Good times.
Does your dermatologist in Idaho also have a blacksmith shop?

Bad cold? I suggest the English method: Lay down in a 4 poster bed, drink a quart of gin (or drink till the number of posts on the bed double), when you wake up, your cold symptoms will be the lesser of your worries.

Not sure, his office is behind the livery stables.

A quart of gin would be a bad idea, but a hot toddy sounds like it wouldn't hurt.

I am pretty sure cleaning RTV off engine parts is what purgatory is like.

Timing cover almost done.

This is where zen mindfulness can really help. I focus on the process and drive out of my head any anticipation of the results.

There is no engine, no assembly. There is only a single part in front of me. Each nib of gunk is its own special task. It takes as long as it will take.

Oh I am the opposite. I was watching a movie on my IPad and smoking a cigar while having a few beers and working.

I am just taking one piece at a time and cleaning it and it’s associated hardware of RTV. Then each piece will get degreased and laid out to be prepped for assembly.

I have ADD, I operate on distraction. Or else I get, uh, distracted.

It’s not like I am intently watching the movie with a beer in my hand and a cigar in the other. Movie was off to my side bluetoothed to shop speaker so I can hear it. Puff and a swig every now and then. Just a little outside stimulus keeps me from getting board with tasks that don’t require a lot of focus. Otherwise brain starts spiraling and pretty soon I end up on the internet reading about rotating detonation engines for 4 hours.

Just discovered some moron or their dog scratched up the side of my car I just spent like 16+ hours detailing a few weeks ago. (Buick has lots of paint, and focusing is hard). This is infuriating.

Can’t “thanks” this post because that really sucks.

Bubba says it's not necessary to remove all of the old RTV. It's like in the old days, just remove the pieces of the cork gasket that aren't attached and just add more form-a-gasket everywhere, when the part is tightened down, it will go where it is needed.

Bubba must not know the FA doesn’t use cork gaskets, just lots and lots of RTV. Everywhere. And there are groves for the excess RTV to go and they suck to clean. And you spends hours with a brass bristled brush and some brake clean scrubbing these groves. You begin to question the meaning of owning Subaru’s. But then you remember you can’t bare the thought of being seen in a Miata.
