I am the son of a math professor. Had enough math. Now I only want enough math knowledge to screw with Ultra a bit.

Yeah their opinions and communication leave a lot to be desired. I was looking for opinions on a specific pad last year and one of the other guys basically kept trying to steer me toward completely other pads without any reasons lol, and then just toward how I should keep the stock pads (ok I guess I’ll keep pads with like 20% left...).

It was amazing. I’ll update my build journal eventually. But one of the key highlights was meeting Max Orido, if you or any of the others in here have heard of him. Freaking cool.

I actually walked past Max Orido way back in the day when I still went to Formula D events. I was actually really surprised and never really uttered a single word as I just let him walk past me. Had to actually confirm it was him online.

What was the story behind your meeting?

What was the story behind your meeting?
So he has a garage and simulator education place in Yokohama. I needed things to do the one day I rented an 86 from Toyota. So I decided I would try dropping in, at least to see if they sold any kind of merch as a souvenir, with the extra hope they’d maybe let me see his cars that he keeps there.

I didn’t expect him to be there. So the guys first went upstairs to the loft office thing and I assumed it was to ask a supervisor if I could come up to look at the stickers they mentioned. They came back down, said I could come up. So I walk up, they open the doors, and to my left is Max himself sitting on a sofa chatting with a friend/customer.

So I asked the shop guy with google translate if they thought it’d be a bother if I asked for a photo, and he just straight up asked Max. So right there Max said sure (I assume), checked out my Instagram, which he’s actually followed for the past year or so, recognized my car, and had one of the guys take a photo of him with me.

Then he went down to help the customer with his insane Lambo outside (Diablo I think...I’ll try to share a photo later. Haven’t gotten to edit any yet.)

So I go down after buying some merch. The shop guys insist I take photos and then videos of Max revving the Lambo, etc. the friend then drove off with the Lambo.

Then I said with google translate that I’d be leaving (I felt like I was intruding and I didn’t want to be a nuisance). So Max asked one of the shop guys to run and grab a business card of his for me.

Then as I’m about to leave and walking away, he starts saying we should take another photo in the garage this time with the shop logo and his cars in the background.

Fucking unbelievable. I just didn’t want to be a pest. I could’ve maybe stayed longer but it’s tough to gauge especially without knowing Japanese.

Meanwhile, in a Japanese forum...
"I met the cool American Instagramer I follow. He just shows up at my shop all like 'Whatsup!' and we got to hang out for a bit. I think he had a good time, but my English isn't so good so it was hard to tell. He seemed to have to get somewhere or I would have like to hang out some more, hopefully he doesn't lose my business card!"

It's an honor to be the inspiration for such lofty goals.
