Thanks for asking.

Nothing new. Still waiting for the lab results from the blood work.

As long as the morphine holds out, she isn't in any pain. I think her husband could use some of that about now -

What is with the younger generation thinking they need "mental health days" off from work? Isn't that called the weekend? We have one employee here that has taken 17 unexcused days off for sick/mental health days just this year.

Sounds like a management problem to me. I could fix this pretty quickly.

not to be "that generation"

but from my point of view, we dont have the "american dream" work schedule

maybe its different for you and your organization, but my "weekends" are random days off throughout the month with no consitatancy.

that said we dont get sick or mental break days. you take leave or show up to work and nose to the grindstone.

on the civillian side of the house, from my understanding we are working longer and more oddly scheduled hours to cover the rising costs of living;
though I would argue that point too...

in short i wanted to say nothing by saying alot.

you guys get mental break days?

IMO call it whatever you want. As long as the day off comes from your vacation/sick time/PTO allotment then who cares?

For me I just have PTO hours, so whether I take vacation or sick time it's all the same.

So sometimes I'll say I need a mental break and take a day off. It means I can take a drive on a fun backroad with minimal traffic because it's a weekday. May as well take advantage.

Yeah, that is my take on it. This is one of the reasons that department manager got fired. That shit never flew with me. The company prez really needs to put his foot down on it, but we find it is more of an attitude with a lot of our younger workers. Right now with unemployment rates being so low, people that want to work are working. You have to weed through a lot of crappy resumes for the ones that aren't currently working. It is just becoming more common place in general, especially in west coast states. In the OR public school system students are allowed to take 5 of these in a 3 month period

Thank you for your service. I know that your schedule is not easy. My dad was a marine for 13 years, don't remember him much then.

Oregon is looking into making it a legitimate reason to miss work and we are not sure if we will be able to "charge" them PTO for it in the future. We have enough staff that they can mostly take a day off anytime if they need to schedule one. But the constant sick calls when they are not physically sick is getting out of hand. Right now the new work policy will be to charge them a PTO day until they make us unable to.

I am actually looking forward to "unpaid" vacation days. This would allow me to plan around camping trips and track days.

For me, if I have nothing scheduled on an open weekend, why not work some to provide finances for an otherwise expensive and financially amoral hobby?

Yeah I agree. A lot of the youth today don't have that attitude. I used to work every bit of overtime I can. That was more beer and tacos for the weekend

We just did inventory, pretty much anyone that was allowed to work as much overtime as they wanted..........and no one stayed but us salary chumps.
