BRZ vs Two Deer

Without going into every detail of how and why I thought I would tell you about the first real road trip in the BRZ. On our way home yesterday afternoon to Pocatello from Jackson Wyoming on US 89 in Wyoming we hit TWO deer. This completely unavoidable accident could have been a lot worse had we been in a different vehicle. I hit both deer head on decelerating from around 56 mph and swerving in an attempt to avoid the deer that were spooked into my path by another vehicle in the opposing lane. One deer went up and over the roof the other down the driver’s side. The front air bags deployed and the BRZ sustained nose and hood damage from one deer and we lost the drivers mirror and dented the driver’s door and rear fender because of the second deer. There is little doubt had we been in some other style or make of car my wife and I would have had at least one deer in our laps. As you can see in the pic’s the BRZ faired pretty well for what happened, now the wait for repair parts begin, probably won’t see the BRZ till late December or early January if we’re lucky. Be careful out there!

Whew, that had to be terrifying. Glad you're ok and, from the looks of it, the BRZ handled it quite well. Hope you get 'er back to pristine condition!

Wow, glad you escaped unscathed. Looks like the car will need some straightening out, but better it than you! I hope they can get it fixed up for you quickly!

That car looks like it barely took a hit! Looks like you hit a hefty raccoon and it rolled off the side. Good that you're okay!
I know deers are really heavy, deceivingly heavy, so I can understand why the airbags went off but from the damage I don't think they should have :S just my opinion

Your Clear Bra obviously saved you from incoming deer projectiles.

Glad you guys are ok. I hate deer with a Passion, that's why I get as many as I can come hunting season.

3 years ago I hit a nice buck with my Chevy pickup at 70 mph. The deer didn't fare too well.

Here in New Zealand we're more likely to hit a sheep or a diary cow! The sheep are a lot smaller and the dairy cows are generally a hell of a lot slower moving than deer so easy enough to avoid.

Glad you're both ok.

Occupants of this car probably inhaled bits of the deer through the air vents...
