I am not an engineer by training, so please excuse me for my lack of technical expertise.
It surprises me that an after-market muffler is designed to be quieter only for application WITHOUT a catalyst and will maintain the same noise level (as an OEM muffler) WITH a catalyst. Ordinarily, one would expect if the muffler is more efficient (in noise reduction) it would lower the noise level WITH or WITHOUT a catalyst. |

Any updates on this?
I'd be curious to see how it would compare to a 2.5" resonated perrin catback. Right now I'm catless, and have a dual resonated front pipe along with the previously mentioned catback. It's somewhat tame, but I'd love to run an even quieter muffler that does not increase the backpressure over what I have. |

We had no problem passing at Laguna last weekend, with forced induction, and no cats.
However, the exhaust note is not the type of dry sound that we are looking for. More designs will be made, simulated, and tested. |

I used to love my exhaust, but alas the Magnaflow in the back has given up the ghost. It has a rattle now that makes me want to cry. I'd pay plenty for something of that quality and design. Stock 997 GT2 Stock Akra 997 GT3 edit:Also, I will never buy an exhaust part that I don't 100% know the internal structure of. I'm sure there are others who feel the same way. |

Hi Everyone,
We're pushing very hard to get a second muffler prototype design ready for testing by end of March. We apologize for leaking word of this project so early and before CSG could do any testing with it. Most designs from ACE take around 18months of development (the Type A took almost 2 years before production). Since we're collaborating with CSG on this, they're making sure we don't take that long It's more important to ACE and CSG that a reliable product is produced that meets all design goals, rather then short certain areas for an earlier release. Mid-pipe question- We are not planning to release a cat-back system. Too many good ones already available on the market and shipping from Taiwan would cost a small fortune. Hope everyone had a nice holiday season Happy Driving, Ace Header |

How are you determining whether or not a design is high power? With a Dyno?
I'm just wondering about the feasibility of taking a car and putting a pressure gauge in the pipe right before the muffler. Then monitor pressure vs RPM in a given gear. I would think a design that yields lower pressures would be the ticket right? |

They have already stated there will be little to no HP gain. This is more for a "high power" car that needs a "low DB muffler" for track regulations or driving preference. |

To get quiet you could always throw a stock catback on, but that would be very constrictive. Not conducive to higher power vehicles. I'm curious to see if they are able to achieve a low back pressure design that remains "low DB". |

And it's not like an instant change where 499 hp is not a restriction and 500 hp is. It will be a gradual increase in pressure vs flow, as you attempt to shove more through it. So yes....I think it's a restriction. |

Think of an oldschool muscle car with a big block, making 700+hp, on two tiny 2" pipes. |
