Your acting like an idiot. This holds especially true when you stated "only gays buy the ESC" if your such a macho tough guy why did you buy a car with a tiny 2 liter engine?

This type of electric power energy is still in development but used successfully in many of todays applications. I am pretty sure the maclaren p1 uses some type and we have really fast electric cars like the Tesla.

I dont own an ESC but am appreciative of the technology and its growth. So how about you keep your childish comments to yourself and stick with being constructive.

To the OP, have you or the dealer simply tried to uninstall the Esc and put it back to stock. Wiring is fussy and any shorts will cause a car not to work. I feel like you would have heard something explode or pop had it been an engine problem.

Good luck.

I think you would have to be realistic re warantee.

"It just died, no codes" does not sound mechanical, actually sounds more electrical/electronics/ecu issue.

If you have electric supercharger you have modified wiring, non-standard batteries, a high power electric motor and associated high current switchgear all of these quite capable of inducing surges/spikes into other components in your car's electrical system, even if none of this additional non-standard components have failed , shorted out ect.

Your chances of having anything electrical , electronic or ecu related covered under warantee would be almost nill even if they don't find the changed ECU mapping.

Your chances of any motor gearbox drive train warantee would also be limited as you have theoretically added horsepower/torque over standard.

I would imagine they would be able to charge for additional time to remove or work around your mods or possibly refuse to work on the car until the mods were removed if they believe the mods are causing or have caused the issue.

Should be very interesting.best of luck. Might be worth turning up with a case of beer

What's "weak" is your car without one!

*Ignoring the obviously idiotic and prejudicial remarks*

Jpit... Can you run down your mods again? I know you have the ESC, trunk mounted battery, borla header, ecutek tune, and an after market exhaust?

Couple things have you tried placing a battery at the stock location, and just trying to start the car? That way we can rule out the trunk mounted battery. Also you said you think its the alternator, was the system recharging fine before the issue?

You have all the mods right except no after market exhaust. I doubt it is the alternator because the battery should have taken over most of the car's functions for awhile if the alternator died. When it died the battery seemed to have a full charge. Because no codes were thrown I believe the problem is electrical in nature. If the dealer can't find the problem (I'll give them a couple of hours) I will tow it to my house and work on it myself.
I may install an earlier Ecutek ROM to check to see if it is the ECU causing the problem.

Just trying to picture it, and weed out issues can you describe what happened?

Does anything electrical work ?

Dash indications ?

Is OBD port responsive ?

Not trying to be a smart but have you checked all the fuses including high capacity ones in engine bay.

Sojhinn,

Was just driving down the highway and went to accelerate but there was no response and the car just died. Try several times to start it and it catches for a split second and then just dies. Doesn't seem like fuel starvation. Haven't had a chance to check the fuses yet but it will be the first thing I do when I get it back.

Bad battery connection?

I've had this before, similar behaviour.

After reading all the comments, my only wish is that technology would have advanced far enough to the point were we could give e-slaps. I would definitely back hand e-slap some of the idiots posting in this thread

Yeah sounds like it to me, but the alternator should of kept it running. Maybe your ground wire is bad?

Not if the connection is loose/bad enough to have ignition on but not able to start due to not being able to pull enough current.

If you take one of the connectors off while the car is running, the car will stop.

Actually, the first item I check was the positive and negative connections to the alternator.
Both seemed fine.
