What stable of cars do you have/are you aiming for?

We have:
Scion FRS - the canyon carver
Subaru Forester - the utility vehicle, like when you need to throw bikes in the back
Jaguar I-Pace - the luxury vehicle, when we all want to go somewhere together. Also the wife's commuter. Not to be taken to shitty neighborhoods.
Ram 1500 - The mover of large and heavy things. This week, it was plywood. Two weeks ago, it was a bunch of 16 foot boards.

What I want:
A Fiat 500e to modify into a tiny canyon carver and easy city car for parking
Maybe a Model 3 Performance for the same reason, but... kind of big. I need to do an extended test drive. Also useful for moving kids. Could replace the Forester.
Replace the Ram with a Ranger Raptor? Prefer an EV truck, like the Bolinger.

What I don't want:
Another ICE sports car or any other ICE car.

Fiat would be good I think the battery location would help anti roll over.
Bolinger would be cool is that Mr Bob lutz brand?

Speaking as one that has almost 150,000 miles in it, the 86 makes a great commuter car, so seems to me you already own one!

Just curious, is this "just because" or do you have a specific reason?

I ask because I just can't get there yet. EVs just don't meet my use cases for vehicles. If I only used it for commuting, yes, it would work. I just don't always use my vehicles that way. (As a lead in, I have nothing against EVs and there is a LOT about them I like. I've said before my vehicle can run on unicorn tears as long as it meets my need.).

For example, two weeks ago the family went on vacation. The trip was from Atlanta. GA to Myrtle Beach, SC. Because there were 4 people and a week's worth of supplies, beach accessories, etc we took your Suburban.

The one way trip required zero fuel stops (the Suburban can make the near 500 miles on one tank of fuel), 1 meal stop of 45 minutes, and two other stops of 10 minutes or less. Total trip time about 7 hours.

Using Tesla's trip planner for the Model X (the size we would have needed, and even then some things would be been left behind) starting off at full charge, I would need two stops totaling 90 minutes to refuel one way, making the trip a minimum 8.5 hours, or adding 3 hours round trip..

In general, we would still need the 65 minutes of other stops so this is all added time. Yes, technically we could make the meal stop as one of the refuel stops IF it was at the right time in the trip and IF it was at a place we could eat (we have some food restrictions in my family).

We would then have the problem once we arrived of charging the car. Most likely we would have to use 110 charging (not a lot of rental homes with built-in fast chargers). So we would have to plan any activity around the charging cycle.

We make this, or similar, trips 5 to 10 times a year. That's a lot of fitting our lifestyle around the vehicle, which should never happen.

That's not even talking about the upfront cost. I paid $12,000 for my used Suburban in 2012. It has had zero non-maintenance work done on it in that time. Yes, if buying both new it's probably a wash, but I rarely buy vehicles new.

ev's will be great when they can run off of solar panels mounted to them. Until then they are just expensive toys.
