ET's 2017 Toyota 86

:::Current State of the Build:::

2017 Toyota 86

Just passed the 1000 mile engine break in period and now I guess it's time to start a build thread. I really haven't done much yet except just drive her and get used to her. I think I settled on a name.... "Mamiko マミコ" named after my favorite bartender in Japan

Mods:
  • JDM Rear View Mirror - (I put on all my cars!)
  • Tinted Windows (Austin, TX is HOT!!)
  • OEM Toyota Mud Guards
  • Swift Spec R Lowering Springs w/Stock shocks (Tein Flex Z's blew or are faulty)
  • SPC Toe Rear Toe Arms
  • Konig Hypergrams 17x9
  • Falken Azenis 255/40x17
  • Megan Racing Front Strut Bar

I know it's bit of a slow start but I have just been enjoying it stock for a bit before I get my grubby paws on it.

YouTube Channel:

Stay Tuned...

2017 OEM Mud Flaps Installed

Installed OEM 2017 Mud Flaps on the 86. FYI: Didn't have the 2 pre-drilled holes on the back like the BRZ's do.

Tein Flex Z - First Look

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RE-wnUZPzA8&ab_channel=ET86"]Tein Flex Z for GT86 BRZ FRS - First Look [4K] - YouTube[/ame]

Just some footage of the Tein Flex Z's before the install. (I figured since my camera did 4K I'd shoot it in 4K...lol).

I will be doing a "real world" review of the Tein's with coilovers only, with upgraded swaybars, and then with upgraded wheels and tires. Stay tuned!

Call Me a Slacker...

Okay so I finally got my coilovers installed...

Here is one image of the before/after. Wheels are next on the list of the worlds slowest build.

Video Review

So far so good! For the price I think they are a good buy for street and a bit of autocross and track time. It is a bit early though for a full review, just kinda my first impressions.

Current Settings:

Front: 4 from hardest setting
Rear: 4 from hardest setting

I tried 6/6 which was comfy but too soft for my liking on Texas high speed side roads with those prius tires ;-)

I am ordering wheels and tires soon so I'll feel a bit more comfortable with wider stickier tires on the car. Then I can mess with the settings again.

Hmm..6/6 is pretty close to stock and totally doable in most situations. Once I get my new wheels and tires, I'll probably start back with 6/6 and then decide from there. I kinda want to try full soft too just for that Lexus ride lol.

I don't drive the car much but I did a 2-3 hour drive and a bunch of Sunday drives on my favorite winding roads. If I drove daily...I might just rock the 6/6 setting, but since I work from home and rarely drive it during the week...I have it a bit stiffer.
