Thanks for the review OP! I think I might be ordering OFT soon.. I plan to stay N.A. and only have catback, catless FP, and OP now and only plan to add catless headers later.
@shiv@vishnu, Are there stg1 93 octane tunes available for download yet? |

OFT/Phantom user here. The OFT is awesome for the money (don't forget base tunes are F-R-E-E and software/tunes are constantly in development). I had to bug Shiv last week about a potential issue I had and he was quick to reply to my emails.

Yep I got this to, trick is to make sure your PC/laptop has completed boot-up then run the OFT manager software wait till the software window says "Trying to connect to OFT" then plug in the OFT to the USB port. If you plug it in before the OFT Manager software is running it won't connect . and will come up with the "device not initilised: message" Also don't try to connect it to laptop/pc and car at same time it won't work |

I received mine in the promised time. Feels like a nice sturdy unit to me. Only issues I had was that it did not auto populate tunes for my DME so I had to grab the laptop and add in the correct files.

Did u have a pre-existing tune before? If not, could you email me your original ROM so I can compare it to what we have in the map database.

I received my OFT last week and am very happy with it. That tablet feels solid to me, has worked flawlessly with my computer and once I figured it out... easy to load tunes to it. The only real trouble I had was getting it to boot properly when plugging it into the car, but it was the connection just being a bit touchy.
I am running the STG 2 UEL tune and the added power was quite noticeable as evidenced by the huge smile on my face. I will be running e85 when it warms up from this insane WI winter. Now to start to learn how to tune myself...

I had to actually do the same. In my instance, I plugged the OFT into the laptop, updated the firmware, read my ECU and had no maps to write after successful read and backup of the original map. So I had to reconnect and load the files into the OFT manually.

update from today
E85 Tune After a trip to Irvine today (ate at Veggie Grill for lunch - best fake buffalo chicken I've tasted), I took a trip a bit out of the way to try the e85 pump My first reaction was something like this: This car is very fast now. It feels much faster than a stock WRX (in the upper power band at least) and it just keeps PULLING. I opened the car up every chance I got and I must say I'm past satisfied with the power level. This is more power than I need for sure for daily driving, and living in my area there's about 4 e85 stations ~20 miles so its a great solution. Power aside, it was really easy to switch from the 91 tune to the e85 tune. Only took about 5 minutes and it was basically done after I got some snacks from inside. Car starts up perfectly (just as good if not better than the 91 tune), and it pulls *everywhere*. I think the only spot that feels sluggish is 3k-3.5k but that's not a big deal because the peak power really feels great now. If I wasn't such a power fiend I would be 100% satisfied. I honestly think this is very good for somebody who wants a quick car, and daily drives it. I never felt like I was down on power after driving all day in lots of traffic (usually after driving in traffic I'm a little upset with my car since it takes so much work to keep up with people ,today was *not* the case). And, icing on the cake I leave all the honda boy racers and soccer moms in the dust now (lol). Anyways, if you have access to e85 definitely try it out. Its great. Really good stuff thank you @shiv@vishnu EDIT: Bonus the wife is happy because of the low emissions too Last edited by Sonolin; 02-15-2014 at 09:26 PM. |
