Heads Up Display
Hey guys, I was just driving my co-worker's 2013 Camaro (decent car). The one feature I fell in love with was the HUD system on the windshield. This was my first time every seeing it.
So my question today is has anyone tried to pull this off with our cars, and how much would something like this cost if it is done correctly. I would like to stay away from the stand alone HUD systems, unless someone has used one that the would recommend. Thanks, |

you can download an app on your phone, and just put one of those sticky pads up by the windshield. It works ok but nothing you buy will be as good as an OEM install.

1998-08 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP's had that option. Probably the cheapest car I can think of OEM with a HUD. Might be able to retrofit/work something out using is as a base... the cars are a dime a dozen @ the junk yard. IIRC the glass had a coating on it though to make it work and not just appear like a reflection in the windshield.
Luckly the section above our gauges is removable so it wouldn't be hard to mock something up while making it appear OEM. |

love the heads up display, but I found myself staring at that more than i do the road. The new Corvette C7 has a bunch of fancy "modes" on the heads up display

The C6 Z06 has a HUD with multiple modes as well. I definitely like the idea. Defi used to have a HUD setup years ago, but nowhere near as clean as the OEM setup.

my brother had that in his grand prix-- his particular car wasn't pre-wired for it, so he said he had to take apart the gauge cluster and connect to all the signals individually. i very much doubt that the 86 has the same gauge signals that the grand prix uses. for one, they are completely different OBD systems, and for 2, they are different brands of car..

Looks awesome, but I am not fan of preordering something new from unknown company, so I will wait for some guinea pig to test drive this.
I am also not sure how you will mount this into GT86, we dont have flat surface. |
