Prior FRS/86/BRZ Owners - Does the steering wheel telescope more in the 2022s?
Sat in a 2020 BRZ last night after securing a deposit on a GR86 (in my area, ANY of these cars are hard to find) and was shocked that I fit well for being 6'5".
I found the 2020 BRZ's steering wheel didn't telescope (pull/extend) out as far as I'd like. Is the 2022 GR86 any different, or about the same? |

I don't own one, but I sat in a 2022 at the auto show a month ago and it did not telescope very far out. My guess is it's the same mechanism as prior gen, which I felt also did not telescope out far enough. The fix is a steering spacer from 949 racing, though that does nothing for turn signal/wiper stalks.
For what it's worth, my Tundra has the same issue. The steering wheel does not telescope out far enough for my comfort. I hope this issue doesn't persist into the GR Corolla... |

I figured as much... The 949 racing solution isn't super expensive and is worth trying out. Thanks for the info! |

It's about the same as the previous gen.
I'm ~6'2" and with my seat adjusted for the pedals, I'd still like at least another inch closer from the wheel, but it's still a pretty great driving position. |

I just picked mine up today, and I’d agree with @Hailwood. I’m 5’9” and have always felt like I wanted an additional 1-2” towards me in my 13’ BRZ, I feel the same with 22’ GR86. It’s still great driving position, and I’m considering the 949Racing spacer.

Everyday Driver mentions this as well in their GR86 Q&A Video, right around the 2 min 55 sec mark..

I got some surgery done to make my arms 4 inches longer so this isn't an issue for me anymore.

Fwiw: I have the 949 spacer mentioned previously (2019 brz) and love it. The turn signal/wiper stalks are indeed farther away, but muscle memory adapted quickly. Driving a car without that extra distance/reach now feels strange. 10/10 would do again. Just use a torque wrench and be careful with the airbag during the install!
Does anyone have a confirmed fitment on the 2022+ |
