If your A/C or defroster is on when you start your car, it will shake worse. Your car is in open loop mode when it is cold, meaning it is receiving no feedback from some of the sensors. It goes by a pre-programmed map to determine engine parameters. It doesn't always get it right. When you run the A/C or defroster you drain power off the engine and it has trouble compensating. If this is the case, turn off your A/C and see if the engine runs smoother.

It's a small displacement 4 cylinder. Shaking is going to be normal.

Does it start normally or does the engine turn over slowly? Do the lights dim when you hit the brakes? Could be a weak battery or faulty charging system. This car has an electric power steering system and when you turn the wheel, it will draw power off the battery. If the battery is weak, the car will shake.

Another possibility is you have a problem in the transmission or the torque converter. If the torque converter is not stalling out properly when you are sitting still, it will drag on the transmission and bog down the engine. In other words, your transmission may not be disengaging when it should and is taking power from the engine. Let us know what Toyota says.

Ultramaroom is right. It's more like a light buzz/ vibration coming from the rear rather than saying your whole car shakes. You're kind of blowing things out of proportion.

Yeah. Sounds like normal "cold LSD" symptoms, and perfectly normal. I agree with Ultramaroon. It's normal for this differential to bind a little bit before it warms up.
