Perhaps this is exactly what you meant but it's just the inside of the trunk lid that is not lined. The rest of the trunk is lined. You can see that in this photo, and this matched the ones we saw in Long Beach:

We are talking about carpeting on the trunk lid right? I also could not car less if the lid of my trunk is carpeted.

Wait so the lack of a piece of carpet on the trunk lid is a deal breaker? Some people have strange priorities...

Agreed, utterly absurd thing to complain about.

I never would have noticed it if I didn't read this thread. It took me a few years to notice my WRX didn't have one.

It probably has something to do with the trim package rather than a concious effort by Scion because we get the base quality cloth. BRZ Premium comes with mid-range cloth, so it probably comes with the mid-range trim.

For all those that care, all the attach points are there. It really won't be a big deal to put one in if you feel you need it.

For those of you who are curious what it looks like.

Looks to be a pretty minimalist liner but definitely still way better than bare. I"m guessing the stealership will charge like $50-$60 for it plus the 4-6 $2 clips so quick rounding math I'm going to guess close to $100 out the door! Just my guess

It might be worthwhile to reduce road noise, thus enhancing engine noise
