WRX Manifold on FRS engine block

I have a 2016 FRS with a relatively stock FA20
Motor (cold air intake). The car is great but the car needs more just a bit more power.
I’ve come to the conclusion you can’t find a supercharger/turbo kit for under $3k. It doesn’t make sense to me to spend that kind of money for roughly a 70hp gain when you can get various motors with a transmission for the same money. My car only had 10kmi and I’m not ready to Molest the car yet and pull the motor. I daily drive the car, therefore I can’t throw that kind of time either.

From what I have read, the WRX and BRZ/FRS block are the same (FA20). I am wondering if you can swap out the intake manifold from a EJ WRX motor onto a FA20 block. I am not a Subaru motor Guru on this but from what I have read the only limitation is clearance in the engine bay.
Is this even remotely possible?

Why do that? Our intake manifolds already have good flow. That really isn’t a bottleneck for NA power. E85, good header, an intake perhaps and a tune are the best NA mods.

You also said FA20 WRX and the EJ WRX. Which is it? If you meant the exhaust/turbo manifold then no.

From what I have seen. Headers and Intake with a tune is only good for another 30-40hp. I live in an area where E85 is not readily available.
I was wondering if the a Wrx manifold from a FA20 would fit on a FRS block. I kept bouncing back an fourth between FA20 and EJ motors in research. They seem to be relatively similar.

They aren't.

What do you think is better about any of the WRX EJ or WRX FA20DIT intake manifolds?

I am weighing options my options to add forced induction.
I ended up circling back to forced induction onto turbo setups on the WRX.

As I said, I am not a Subaru motor guru.

Here is what I found on google:

MY13-16 BRZ/FRS Manifold

MY17+ BRZ/86 Manifold

WRX FA20DIT Manifold

Notice what isn't at the front of the manifold? Even if the ports and hose connections all worked out, see the throttle body...

This is completely backwards. 2015 WRX owners actually swap the twin's intake manifold onto their engines with an IBR kit, for the better flow AND for allowing the addition of Port injection, which leads me to bring up the biggest problem with your plan; You would be stuck with only direct injection, because the wrx fa20dit intake manifold doesn't have ports for port injection.

What full engine swap worth doing can be done for even less then 10k$? most people are spending 15k$+ and doing almost all of it themselves.

FI on this car is the best bang for book HP increase you can get. and 70+whp is on the low end of what most cheaper entry level kits/setups can do. with a smaller pulley or different spring Most cheaper entry level kits are capable of closer to 120+whp without too much issue. Beyond that the engine becomes questionable.

And why swap to an inferior intake manifold? is your goal to lose power with that mod?

The intake manifold won't help you there at all... the turbo attaches to the exhaust manifold.

It's already been covered though... you're not going to get a cheap bolt on solution using WRX parts, you're far better off buying a kit designed for the car/engine. It'll cost you less in the end.

You bought the wrong car. You will not get that power without FI plan and simple. And you can get FI kits for under 3K. Paid 2800 for my Sprintek 210 IC kit used. You can also get the SBD Turbo kit for 3K brand new. The kit is decent quality and will get you to your power goals perfectly on pump. Hell you could even bring the boost down a bit and still hit it. With how light these cars are it does not take much. I am loving my Sprintek kit on e85. Perfect amount of power for this car and chassis. Close to 300WHP and 225 WTQ is so much fun.

This is a terrible idea. If you want cheap boost, get the SBD kit. Buy $180 worth of tools and a couple jack stands, you really can do it.
