New BRZ owner

Hey guys,

Glad to say I'm an owner of a new BRZ! Couldn't resist the great deal Muller had on the 2013 models, so I signed and drove away (btw, is Ben from Muller Subaru on here?) It was a very positive buying experience there.

I come from a background of 2 seaters (91 MR2, 06 Miata) so this car fits pretty well with the cars I like. I recently crashed my Miata, hence I was looking for a new car.

So far...awesome. Still getting used to how the car feels and that extra row of seats behind me (if you can call it that), but I really appreciate the extra space I have now. Although I will never feel as cozy as I did in my old MR2, this car has a fantastic seating position and I cannot get over how the steering feels.

Looking forward to a few autocrosses and track days this year. If anyone is attending, keep me in the loop and I will be happy to join!

Bob

PS. here's the car:

Thanks for the warm welcomes!

I will surely stop by your shop! I have the itch to do some minor mods, but I'm going to let the car settle in first. Breaking in the car is just a tease, because I KNOW there is a lot more after 4000RPM!

But my shortlist of things to do are:

1) Wheels and sticky(er) tires
2) Springs. Something with a minor drop, like an inch, and nothing too aggressive
3) Alignment. I know from past experience that stock alignment is usually subpar
4) Exhaust to listen to the engine just a bit more
5) Maybe get those red vinyl tail light things. Looks pretty good and I'm assuming it's cheap to do.

Questions for you veterans...are there inexpensive mods to get a bit more torque out of the car? I heard headers are the way to go from a few people, is that the general consensus?

Another one, it feels like the engine moves around a bit under the hood. Has anyone had experience with stiffer engine mounts?

Otherwise, I just want to take the car out on autocrosses and track days The car is just asking to be thrown into corners!

I felt bushing replacements were a great bang for the buck. After replacing thr subframe and diff cradle it felt like it really put more power down.

I will be swapping mounts next month, but that will be coming as a whole package with my FI install.
