Yeah, bad time.

Highly recommend waiting to test the street limits of the car until the weather has been clear for a good few weeks.

Even if it hasn't rained in a few days, the interesting roads have patches of mud/gravel and puddles. So you have to also be careful of blind corners where you don't know if the ground is stable ahead of your vision, that kind of thing.

The sad thing is even Skyline isn't in great shape right now between Saratoga and Palo Alto. It has a sink hole that'll take some weeks to repair, and yesterday I read about a bad mudslide along it as well.

Skyline in good weather is typically pretty solid. But so soon after storms, even I'd be wary driving it and probably just do a super easy cruise.

Wait until later next month or early April. Should be better by then.

Damn bro thats 4 hours away. I might have been down but my family lives in socal and its closer to socal than the bay. Thats kind of a mental milestone for too far. Ill go down there once i move back south

Ill be going out to a "Hooked on Driving" soon, unless there are other consensus recommended driving schools

If you're a beginner with HOD, you must have an instructor(additional fees). They are VERY strict on safety.

Yea thats specifically why Im looking at them. Co worker recommended them to me and I like the idea of having an instructor in my car the whole day. The way you phrased that indicates thats not the norm for instructional schools? How did you start

I started off with HOD w/instructor at the 5-mile course at T-hill(kind of overkill), they pair you up with a buddy driver. The only downside is the driving restrictions and additional cost for the instructor, but they do give you very useful tips.

If you're new to track day driving, they make sure that the instructor paired with you has a similar type car. My instructor drove a Miata and luckily the track day "buddy" I was paired with drove a BRZ.

I took Redwood Rd and Grizzly Peak up to Berkeley (in the name of picking up a pizza lol)... it was a beautiful day for a drive but there are several large potholes along the way you definitely have to watch out for. Rim-wrecking craters lol use extreme caution.

Cars & Coffee meet

Any meet I can attend this Saturday? Make new friends? I attended the NorCal 86 Summer Kick Off meet at Livermore last year and would like to get to know more folks!

It’s baseball opening week for the Oakland A’s. I will be tailgating at the coliseum on Friday.

I’m new to the NorCal forum. Born in S.F. but raised in between traveling from the Bay Area to SoCal.

Normally Cars & Coffee car meet is held on every last Saturday every month from 7-10a (before normal business hours begin). Is there such thing around the Bay Area?

There used to be one in Blackhawk and Canepa but they are no more. I believe there is one at Santana Row in SJ but not sure how often. Check out 100Oct on Facebook.

But mostly our meets are during the week except in the summer we there are more drives on the weekends. Summer Kickoff will be coming soon as well as an event at Canepa in Scotts Valley just for our group. Still finalizing a date though.
