Since not all "old" cars are affected, they will probably just fix the ones who fails.

... be careful here; there's only a small number cars affected (approx. 5%) so even if there was only two weeks from your cars manufacture to it's delivery, there's only a small chance you would have been affected. Also consider that many of the cars here (including my own) were resolved with mechanical fixes only. Put another way; the fact your not having problems doesn't tell us much.

I imagine if you added the supply chain and levels of on-hand inventory to the timeline and then added how long it would take the average driver to travel 500-1500 miles from now that would probably give you 30-60 days from now for all of these cases to work themselves out of the system, and people to stop posting here, if the ECU fix is indeed the final fix...

...but because of the mechnical problems it's not

My car was running 100% fine trouble free for approximately 3,400 miles. I mistakenly left the interior dome light on after I last drove it.

I left to Florida for a week and came back home and had to jump start my car. Ever since then, the idle dip issue has risen and has been bugging me a lot. I was even in stop and go traffic and a couple of times when I set the car to neutral on idle it just dips and I can see from the ass of the car in front of me that my DRL lights went out and came back on. What the hell, might bring it in to service but I highly doubt they'll even bother to check anything at all....

sorry ftc, wasn't trying to be creepy, honest :happy0180:

But I *was* kinda serious. It would be interesting to get some data points to test the power-drop rumour, and your car would be a good candidate. If you get your paypal set up, I'll dig up mine too and contribute for sure. How much does it cost anyway to have a car dyno'd? Anyone know?

lol you weren't creepy....I said something then got an email from a corporation and retraced a statement...lol timing is amazing

I'm gonna look up my paypal now. I've never used it to make money, just to spend it...lol

I will seriously get a dyno, there is a place up the street from work and I am very curious to see as well if there is any difference. May also help me to make a personal decision about my car donations are welcome of corse!

Updating my status:

110. Oski, BRZ, 1400 mi, 6026XX, ECU replaced, running okay, no power loss detected

10/11 - new ECU installed and approved by Subaru HQ in Japan.

10/21 - SOA offers good faith compensation of 7yr / 100,000 mile warranty and 3yr / 40,000 mile maintenance plans

10/23 - dropped car off at dealership for paint repair to driver’s side (paint was damaged by bird droppings while the car was parked outside for three weeks getting the CEL light repaired)

10/23 - SOA sent me a release form for the compensation. In order to get the warranty and maintencne plans I have to release Subaru from all legal liability on the vehicle. In other words, I release my right to evoke California’s Lemon Law. I wish they had told me this tradeoff was required to accept their compensation. Not sure what to do?

They offered it to me, but I officially don't get anything unless I sign the release form. I have mixed feelings about releasing them from lemon law.

My car is running well for 400 miles after the ECU replacement and I'm glad they will cover the car for 7yrs or 100k miles. However, if it's a total lemon and they have to swap out the engine at some point, I will be wishing I could get a full refund via CA lemon law. Not sure what to do
