EL Catted Header: P&L vs JDL?
The search on this site blows. Opinions on these two headers?
Will be using OFT with non catted front pipe and stock axle back. Power blocks maybe in the future. http://pandlmotorsports.com/shop/pl-...4-1-header-na/ http://jdlautodesign.net/shop/ft86-equal-length-header/ |

Well the JDL catted and coated header is $250 more than the P&L catted and coated header and is certainly not $250 better. Personally, I have the P&L catted and coated header and love it. It's a beautiful piece and makes a beautiful sound.
I can't speak to the JDL piece, but $1500 is waaaay too much for only one piece of the exhaust, imo. Also, JDL has at least a 3 week lead time, while P&L usually has headers on hand. |

I also have the P&L headers, mine are uncatted but still amazing plus they are the set up for the P&L turbo kit so it saves you money on the kit if you plan on getting it

Unless both headers were tested on the same car, the same day, those dyno numbers you speak of mean very little.
I think they are both very high quality units that produce great numbers. I think you'll be happy with either one. |

I'm torn as well not too many sound clip of either. However, I heard one with Nameless headers that sounded phenomenal. Sigh... decisions.

The video of the JDL EL catted headers sounds phenomenal. Pretty much what sound me plus the gains I'll get on top whenever I get my tune.

I'm interested in P&L catted and coated as well, but would like to hear more user comments on issues, if any. In particular if the loop in front of the engine is causing nearby plastics to melt (going to keep the stock intake resonators). The lack of in-cabin videos, particularly with stock catback, is a bit frustrating too.

You are very correct however what one is suppose to look at is the increase in change between the runs within the same dyno (ex stock to header run with a 20 percent increase in some area compared to an increase from another dyno) while numbers change increase rate generally stay similar that's why curves often look of a similar shape between dynos. Do some google searches is what I'm saying and figure out what you want and are looking for in a header

Bump. Info on these headers isn't as easy as a Google search. Especially when this thread is the first search result.

I never had a Header+stock catback configuration or I would have had a few sound videos for you, but I think someone else here had done it. Last I heard they were having trouble posting the video.

Bumping this thread.
Is the sound dramatically different from catted to non-catted? I don't mind loud, I just don't want rasp. Currently running catless front pipe matched to an Evo3.

Not saying it's the case here, but sometimes available stock is actually a bad thing (ie, why aren't they already sold).
