57Xtreme 18x8.5 +33 offset vs 18x8.5 +42 offset
I'm new to picking out aftermarket wheels and need some advice. From what I have read, the lower +33 offset should give the 57xtreme wheel a more concave look than the +42 offset. However, when I compare images and videos of the 2, it looks like the +42 offset has a more concave look and the +33 looks flatter (very flat). Can anyone clarify this? Which of these 2 will have a more concave look? Thanks.
*8.5 is the max width I am willing to go. |

I'm not sure about this specific wheel. But in general, if widths are the same, the face is usually the same and the offset difference is the material on the back pad of the wheel where it mounts to the hub. +33 is further out aka wider track than +42, so if they did have difference faces, the +33 would have the more concave face. They probably have the same face and the pics are probably creating an illusion. The concave face on these wheels are on the 9.5 widths I believe, but I am not 100% sure so yeah...

The +42 is more concave because it's face 2. the +33 is flatter because it's face 1. they're just different designs.

19s, but face 2. Looks concave
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68233 There was another topic about 18s I think, consensus was that it is indeed concave and not flat face. Please confirm with a vendor, or the owner. |

If you've narrowed it down to just those two choices, you definitely want the +42 if your looking for a concave look. The 'Face 2' design mimics the look of the 9.5" wheel without the accompanying weight penalty, and was perfect for me because I didn't want to go wider than 8.5", either. Does it look as good as the 9.5" wheel? No, but it's as close as you're going to get at the narrower width. It's a solid choice, so go for it - it's a fitment specifically for our cars, they're strong, and they're hubcentric, too.

This for sale thread has pics of the 18 x 8.5 +42:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108764 I took a pic from @Scuba86 thread to show it beside my 18x8.5 +33 front wheels below. the +42 was not available when i purchased mine, or else i'd have ordered that instead. honestly, if they made a 18x9 +40, that'd be the perfect size IMHO. I have 9.5 on the rear. you can see that the +33 is flatter because the center is recessed. on the +42, it's not recessed as much so the spokes curve inwards more (more concave).

I think I may go with the 42 offset, but I will contact the manufacture to confirm. Thanks to all who posted with advice. These rims + 2.5" Perrin cat-back exhaust = a fun car. |

If you are going for the more concave-ness do the +42. I've seen the +33 and are not as much. I currently have the 19x9.5 +40 ones
