Didn't read it all the way, I apologize. If you are running stock fueling and reg gas, then yes the c38 isn't the best option.

I wonder if the C38 will produce less heat than a C30 all other factors remaining the same...

This is also false. The C38 works great on stock fueling. The Benefit of the C38 is the overhead. It has more overhead so you can add more boost. On the standard pulley the perform just the same.

Good morning guys

I've been researching FI for a while now and believe I'm leaning towards this SC kit. My vehicle is pretty much stock save for a 93 octane OTS tune on the OFT. I figured this kit is a more reliable FI option and I'm not looking for anything crazy as I'm not going to track the car.

I wasn't planning on upgrading the exhaust anytime soon either. My question is, would the C30 or C38 kit be better for my application? Also, is there an OFT OTS tune available for this SC or should I sell it and go with the factory ecutek option?

Thanks!

So I spoke to Jackson Racing and they said that it would be better to do the C38 with the HBP, because on the C30 the HBP is running the C30 to its maximum which can be dangerous but with the C38 it's not running it to it's max. Just as long as i fill it with 93+ octane, get new fuel injectors and a new fuel pump it should be fine.

@Storm_Trooper The C38 and C30 produce the same power, the C38 is just better to get if you plan on replacing your engine in the future, and it's not much more. When I spoke to jackson racing, they said it's better to go with the C38.

It is not dangerous to run the High Boost Pulley on the C30, you may have slightly misunderstood. The reason we recommend the C38 with the smaller pulley, is the C38 isn't working as hard to make the boost, therefor there is less stress on the C38 unit.

With that being said, we have many customers with the C30 and High Boost Pulley that are running reliably.

I imagine it means generating much more heat than a C38, outside of the compressor's optimal efficiency envelope

I'm on board with you now. Just remembered reading that from D-Tuning and figured I didn't need to research any further. After reading further, it's a bit odd that they even offer the C30 anymore. $100 is a pittance with FI and should be easily made back in better resale on a C38 kit.
