Seems like a strange way to protect a bumper. If they're worried about the student rolling backward into someone on a hill, the big tow hook will only do more damage. Seems like they would put some rubber bumper on there before they would add a ridiculously heavy weight hanging off the end of the car.

Granted I never had the fortune of taking a drivers ed class but I'm still shocked a manual transmission would be an option anywhere.

Agreed with you on the pointless driving test. I still managed to fail for rolling a stop. The other day I found myself on the route of the drivers test. So I went through that stop and rolled it just to spite my drivers test.

Yup, you are absolutely correct. Until the POS Jaguar came out and hit like a 5.79. I loved it and had a lot of fun in it. People were all excited in the 2000's about paddle shifters and then I would show them my 98 GS and they couldn't believe it. My first time "breaking in a car" was in that thing. If you know what I mean

Our official driver's ed car was a Ford Tempo but my instructor took out advanced drivers in his Ferrari F355...I was one of the lucky ones (I think he used me to get track time LOL).

Gave me a lot of confidence early on to be trusted with a sports car, I wish more schools offered basic road driving lessons (even for adults) in higher end cars. You can't even rent a slushy mustang for practice at that age.

I was wondering the same thing. It definitely looks like some kind of rig to pull to tow something. Why the hell you would do that is beyond me.

Maybe they follow with another vehicle with awesome brakes and lots of contact patch that they use to stop this one in the event of the driver being a complete moron or some such.

No matter what goes back there though, it could hardly do anything aside from accelerate what is likely to be pretty bad clutch wear....

Hell yeah! I learned in a stupid Daewoo Leganza. Does anyone even remember Daewoo? I wish I didn't. I learned stick in a Pontiac Sunbird with no tachometer. My friend said "when the engine gets loud, shift". Brilliant.

I'm guessing that the ballast on the back changes the f/r balance of the car significantly. It would probably transfer weight much better especially on snow and ice. A good solid attachment point for a tow strap is never a bad thing either.
