I also don't have a great history with gofundme.. My cousin very angrily wrote off my side of the family when some of us made it known we didn't like her boyfriends ethics and had some issues with a few other life choices she was making at the time. Then a few months later she pops out of the woodwork sending us all a link to a gofundme for their wedding fund demanding that we all give her money to be happy. Only to get even angrier when none of us donated because she had made zero progress or acknowledged the issues we raised before. She wanted us to donate to prove to her that we were still family, literally buying our way back to her. I like animals. I respect the amount of time and effort it requires, as well as the connections we build with those animals. But i don't personally believe that spending nice-car money on those animals is a justifiable use of that money no matter how good a friend the animal is, not to mention the final result of extending a shallow existence of of something in pain. I'm of the opinion that there are more than enough good condition animals in shelters for cheap that would be just as good of companions without the significant expenditures. I know it's a little heartless, which is why i didn't respond immediately, but at the same time, I've known a couple people now that have spent dozens of thousands to keep their pet alive, and in the end, i see them struggle even more under the weight of significant debt for an animal that was barely able stay breathing on it's own, and i just don't see how putting my finances or the animal through benefits anything or anyone.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I don't know you, but I know it's truly a great loss for you.
