Clutch floor pad / cushion?

I'm wondering if there's supposed to be some kind of foam or pad behind the clutch pedal to cushion it on the floor?

After 30k miles I noticed that my clutch pedal to the floor felt uncomfortable and made creaks against the floor/firewall or whatever it rubs against, checked behind the pedal assembly and there was a worn adhesive strip there. Any ideas thanks.

There is nothing on my 2013 FR-S. The pedal arm just hits the padding on the floorboard.

In another thread they talked about putting one of those stick on felt chair/table leg pads on the floorboard.

Curious, with such a high release point on the clutch, why are some people slamming it into the floorboard ... ??

Not the floorboard, stick on a felt button to replace that POS rubber bump stop.

That's easy to read in my head. Then I tried to say it out loud.

There's supposed to be a rubber stop which prevents what you're hearing. It fits into a hole in the metal piece the clutch arm hits when fully pressed (get down there with a flashlight and watch as you press the clutch in with your hand). If you don't see one there anymore (and rather you see a hole), yours probably broke in half and fell on the floor never to be seen again. Mine broke in half too and I noticed it when I was down there inspecting the clutch spring.

You can replace it with just about anything rubber or felt that you can find laying around with an adhesive back. As mentioned above, @Ultramaroon found chair leg pads to be a great replacement. Since I didn't have any and cbf to go get some I used a cut piece of rubber drawer liner and 3M tape. Let me know if you want a picture.

Oh, way up there. I can sort of feel it, but my body won't twist enough to let me see it ....

And I'm NOT about to move the seat back ...... cause I will NEVER be able to get it back to exactly where it was .....

Sorry, @radroach for putten out some bad poop there.

But @Ultramaroon straightened me out ...... as usual .....

Nothing frustrates me more than trying to twist myself into the footwell to try and do anything worthwhile under there. Sure fire way to get me cussing up a storm within 30 seconds.

I spent 20 minutes stuck in the floor under a dishwasher this afternoon. Eventually just thought "What would @humfrz do?" So I had a nap while down there.

I sure do hear that. Even with a light strapped to my head thing, the light is never in the right place. Then my tri-focals won't focus. Then, my arm won't bend that way. Then, sure as hell, I'll get at least one charley horse in my legs and start yelling.

Then, mrs humfrz comes running out and tries to pull me out from in there ..... I yell more because of the Charley horse ..... she gets frustrated and leaves me there to die.

Now, that I'm wiser, I just put stuff like that on a list for my son-in-law to do when he comes over ....... after all, he owes me ....... for looking after his kids all week long ......

Well, back in the day, humfrz would have taken the dishwasher out, pulled off the panels, found the problem, drove to the Sears parts center, bought the parts, installed them, re-installed the dishwasher, had a couple of strong bloody Marys ...... then taken a nap.

However, a few months ago, our dishwasher was leaking (out from underneath the center). So, I called the local, friendly, Sears service man and he came out and replaced some parts so it don't leak no more ........ then I took a nap ..... exhausted from watching him .......

The only problem with the old one was that it was white.
