ST coilover warranty

So about 3 weeks ago I was installing my ST coilovers. The piston rod snapped on the last strut while bolting down. I talked to the shop purchased from and they have submitted a claim to their distributor. The distributor has filed a claim with ST. It’s been two and a half weeks with no response. I haven’t been able to drive my car for 3 weeks and I really am getting impatient. I can buy a new strut for I believe 250$ or 300$ directly from ST. But I wish someone would just get to my claim. What would you guys do?

IMO - the shop you bought them from should bring you in a new set and then make the claim themselves.

For installation error when the buyer installed it themselves? It's not like they were defective out of the box.

Well I think it would be pretty tough to snap the shaft when installing, no matter the installers level of ability. It is kinda a tough call though.

The torque spec for the top nut is 26 lb/ft front and 15 rear. Not too hard to over-do that and have it break off.

So after waiting an entire month for KW/ST to respond, I decided to order a brand new strut. They took three days to get it out of the factory and I requested expedited shipping. It gets better. They shipped it as ground. I don’t know if it was just my agent who was incompetent but I had to babysit him. The guy would not call you back for the life of him.

Very very unhappy with their support.
