Hi Guys,

I walked into a Toyota Dealership to order a 86 this week and the sale person implied to me that I might be a bit too old for this car. I am 38 with 2 kids.

I did order the car that day, was wondering how much would cost me to insure the car so found this thread and by the look of it, my impression is that a lot of would be 86 owners are in fact quite young in mid 20s.

Am I really too old for having fun driving this great driver's machine?

Cheers

Hopefully you put your money down somewhere where they don't insult you!

If it tells you anything a good percentage of the US Scion 1st86 have 15or more years on you (including me). You're a youngun in my book!

Jack Hollis (VP Scion in US) said the car isn't "about being young, its about being a thinking young". That's how I feel about it. This is about me driving what I want to drive.

wtf. i thought Toyota Aus is targeting 45 yo with this car?? lol

there is no such thing as too old for a car. my friend's dad was driving a supercharged S2000 at his 70s.

personally i'm 36 with 2 kids.

Never too old dude!!!

Look at the average age of the MX 5 owners!!!

Also the target age according to the internal Toyota document was 35 so no the sales guys was a noob and i would ignore him.

I am 35 with 2 kids so I say not too old. But to put this thread back on topic, have you got an insurance quote yet?

No one is too old for the things that interests them. I am 34 and have a son, but I would really love to drive this car.... just holding off for the moment because of tight budget ..

You're not alone mate, me too! well close to 2k.

mine is $1700 with $800 excess. Not sure if you're older then me.

Don't even think about trying NRMA, its F'ing expensive, way more then Just Car Insurance even though NRMA owns Just Car. i got like 2k+ with excess of $1000. wtf?

AAMI owns just car, not NRMA.

Insurance is going to be stupid for these, I guarantee it, If only because its so accessible to P-platers and under 25s.
