Ground Control for 86/FRS/BRZ
To start off I'd like to thank Adam (who set me up for the R&D), Donovan (assigned to work on the project and who lent me his classic SS to get some food), Dustin (helping Donovan and talking to me what the car is getting and how it will be set up), the guys at the shop and of course the man himself the owner Mr. J.. After dropping my car off at their shop and looking at all their goodies i was super excited to get my car back so i took off yesterday just to see how they do their work. Arriving before lunch i noticed they were installing the protoype race coilover kit and was ready to lower the car down so Mr J can take it through the windy road near their shop which i was fortunate to ride shotgun. I was super impressed how it handled, didnt feel like it was a race set up (ride) but man it took the corners like the way it should hugging the turns. The set up that was installed on my car is for street/track and i am a SUPER FAN of it. Mr J set it up where the car is at its best handling and driving it at high speeds through the windy roads i see what he means.. I cant wait for the new set up that you guys are working on..
The guys finishing up the install of their Race Coilover kit After finishing the R&D of the race coils its time for my set up to be reinstalled Shelves full of Eibach springs made specially for Ground Control Mr. J's daily driver.. Ferrari 308 GT4 Dino one of his many Ferraris This is how the car sits and where the handling is better, any lower the car doesnt handle quite right..

Mike, Again Thank you for the car and the write up. Don't forget about your open excuse of taking your car or I mean your wife to Monterey.
Have fun Mike, Adam |

Can you post a picture of how your car sits with the kit on there? I have the same kit they put on your car, but I haven't been able to bring it by to them since I live quite far away. I do love the way it feels though!

I posted the pic, looks high in the picture but its sits low. it doesnt like it any lower than that, the car doesnt quite handle right. contact adam and see if he can give you the height settings so you can try it out yourself. With the way its set up taking tight turns and taking those corners through the canyons you can feel the difference.

The rates on my kit are 6.6kg/mm front and 7.7kg/mm rear which translates to around a 375lb front spring and a 430lb rear spring.
I have the GC kit on my M3 as well but that car runs 430lb front and 650lb rear. |

Here is a representation of the anodizing colors:
http://www.ground-control-store.com/...ory.php/CA=227 Here is the most popular of the powder coat charts: http://www.cardinalpaint.com/product...pcid=2&cctid=8 OK: Important! Ground Control is doing a batch of blue (for the Rotiform Subaru and others) this week. If anybody else wants blue parts, please let us know. This could be blue/gold or blue/blue. |
