I think, generally speaking, that's the Japanese style. Honda and Mazda work the same. Subaru might be an outlier.

GM and Chrysler are backwards, flip down is mist, you turn them on by flipping up.

What I also miss, although not enough to complain, is a three-blink turn signal feature. They've been standard on every American car for how long?

If the interior bothers you that much, you bought the car for the wrong reasons.

Funny, I commented on the lack of sunglasses holder and the sales guy just grabbed some subaru-branded sunvisor clips for me.

They work well enough

I love the interior, quoting something I read here that stated - "everything you need and nothing you don't need". I did throw out the cupholder and put in an armrest but even that was not 100% necessary. Just a bit more comfortable at my age.

We've always had cheap Toyota Corollas as daily drivers so everything is familiar but the FR-S is actually much nicer overall.

I get in some cars today and I'm overwhelmed by all the crap I see that I don't need or in most cases, don't even know what it does. And I will never own a car I have to talk to. Bad enough I have to talk to my wife.

Every car I've ever owned (all hondas/acuras) has had you pull the stalk for spraying, and pushing up to swipe. So this nothing for me (and most ppl I would think).

I had rattles in my BMW. I for one am okay with a little more spartan interior. Its functional. I don't care if the clock looks like its from the 90s, it is the easiest clock I've ever had to set lol.

just one complaint. My Wife's use of heels has torn a hole in the carpet in the bulge under the throttle that the regular floor mat doesn't cover. Subaru are replacing the carpet but now i have to come up with something like a wearable replaceable patch to protect the carpet beneath from further damage.

Would a Weathertech mat cover it? They're a bit bigger.

I would suggest looking into the Weathertec mats. I doubt any heels would puncture that thing.

I love the interior except for the low-grade materials, and the parts-bin seat heater switches which look painfully out of place. And the head unit (touch screen on a car with stiff suspension = dumb idea).

I can live with all that stuff, but what really kills me is the lack of rake and lumbar adjustment in the seat. My 1987 MR2 has lumbar adjustment and my 1991 BMW has rake and height adjustment; both seats are manual and weigh about the same as the BRZ seats. Seriously, Toyobaru?

So my only interior gripe (besides the lack of steering wheel radio controls) is the lack of a good place to put coins. Living in LA, metered parking is a pretty normal thing, and I would have loved to have a little place to keep a few dollars in quarters.

I have seen the little iPod holder that fits into a cupholder with spots for a few coins that some FRS owners got. Even that would have been nice!

I guess I'll just have to find some sort of coin pouch thing...a Subaru or 86 emblazoned one!

premium AC control knobs are pretty shitty if you asked me. They are exactly same knob from 2005 corolla. But other than that, everything else is pretty along the where price of the car is. if anything brz feel much more premium than the wrx sti.

I looked at weather tech mats and my wife said she doesn't like the look of them. I'm going to try the velcro'ed pad thing that MaximaZero recommended, thanks!

(How do I thank for a helpful post anyway?)
