I have been on diet and lost 20 lbs in the last several months. I swear my car feels faster now.

Seriously. If a fat technician tests my car on a dyno, will it be different than a skinny technician?

No. Dyno measures power output against a known resistance. Only difference might be rolling radius of tires, but not by any significant amount.

However, a car with a skinny driver will accelerate faster.

Yes, I know you are joking. But I was bored for a minute.

everything but the crank pulley is safe to lighten to an extent. it takes power to move weight. it wont drop much weight so it wont free up much power.

If you're trying to find another .5hp at 7000 rpm, it might be worth your while just like a grams 70mm TB might be worthwhile for you but then you're looking at weight savings like the HKS Serpentine belt that they claim is 17% lighter than stock.

If you don't change the crank pulley too, then you won't see much gains. The guys at Nasioc are saying for years that most of the gains are given by the crank pulley. Think that you gain close to 2kg with the crank pulley. With the other pulleys you gain at most 100-150 grams. If you don't want to touch the crank pulley and want to have whatever kind of damping, then it is not worth it in my opinion.

I mean, if the guys at Nasioc said so it must be true. Who are we to doubt the wisdom of strangers on an anonymous internet forum.

They aren't strangers and they have different FAQs related to all the basic topics. Otherwise, you end up with newcomers joining and asking constantly the same and same questions and you end up answering the same and same things. In other words a big mess ...

Nasioc has been around a long time and knows Subaru’s.

I remember a great thread where a guy said if you take out all the odd pages from the manual the weight loss created much better HP than other lightweight mods.

Nasioc is king. Some of the best advice on car modding and cars in general can be found there, everyone here should really be a member just for unabomber's posts alone. Think of it as an amazing library of knowledge.

What always makes me laugh about the moronic trolls is they totally and completely ignore reality. There is a reason ever manufacturer loves to brag about how much less their vehicles way, and how much they took out of special editions and such.

Good point Photobucket has destroyed so much valuable information in the past with their money grab. Hopefully their CEO is flipping burgers soon.

No I contacted the board member who was going to do it but he said he had to move and the project is on the back burner. I can't believe that no has weighted it since this car has been out for 6 years.

If one comes up used I may go for it anyway and run it with only the passenger fan since my AC is removed. That way I can guarantee I will save some weight especially on the driver side.
