I'm almost positive it's a proprietary clutch for this setup.

@FullBlown. What comes included in the kit? Any more pics? Is it available now? I can't seem to find it on your site.

I think you have to special order it over the phone. I believe it's built to order, it's a complex setup that I think requires you to send them the trans for mods

I wish these transmission where not so expensive. I am ok with the price of the conversion kit and everything but then the price of these transmissions IMO are outrageous. With the plan I have for my build It will ultimately look as if I have no choice but to do this conversion. In the grand scheme of things it will only be a drop in the bucket after the motor build, turbo kit, fuel upgrades, brakes, suspension etc.

One thing I am curious in though and some other people asked it but I did not see an answer. Do we know more much more the weight of this transmission is VS the stock one? Most guys doing this conversion will probably be making big power so some extra low weight may be beneficial.

It's because the transmission came in only one car (MKIV Supra Turbo) that wasn't exactly ultra high production (especially in the US), it's used for swaps in those cars as well as the other generations of that car, and it's known for being essentially bomb proof at ludicrous power so long as you don't miss a shift.

As for the weight, it's supposedly 51kg (~112.5lbs) dry but I don't know if that includes the bellhousing.

That is exactly why they are priced high and for good reason I just think its overly high because i want to do this and when you starting adding money up it hurts. I am not denying the capabilities of this transmission hence the reason they are doing a conversion. It just bums me out looking at the price.

Btw thank you for the weight specs. Any one have any ideas on stock trans weight?

I'd be curious to see a kit to put a Tremec Magnum in the car. $3K brand new double overdrive transmission that can take 700ft/lbs...

Though I think eventually there will be upgraded gear sets for the stock trans, we just have to give it more time for the demand to be high enough.

I was curious as well until I saw the gear ratios available, then it all went to shit. If you want to spend cash u can get custom ones but then you're in the price range of the v160 anyway. Plus the tremec doesn't like shifting over 7000rpm

We have looked into doing a gear set but it is almost impossible to do a gearset for this trans and keep it streetable. The transmission and its internal components are physically too small.

With a good turbo kit you should have the powerband to use it, though you might have to change the ring and pinion. Pretty common on high power Miatas to do it.

The only high RPM issue I know of on Tremecs is on stock cars that use remote mount shifters (1st to 2nd grind because the engine/trans shifts out of alignment with the body mounted shifter). Mount the shifter to the trans and it's not an issue.

That's a pitty

By streetable I assume you mean no straight cut gears or switching to a dog box?

2jzs are not worth it anymore. And that's coming from a guy who loved the 2jz more than any other motor just a few years ago. LS1 is king.

@FullBlown I'm up for a set of straight cut gears to test out on the street. Seriously. I'll even turn it back up to 400 torques.
