Yeah. I played sunday league baseball for a bit but the league folded. Now the only other adult league the season lasts from like March to October playing every weekend. Its just crazy. And for expensive I have a buddy who is getting back into judo and wants a few of us to go but its 40min away 2x a week. Gas would be more than the class

I had just started playing tennis with a buddy but we're cheap and public courts dont have lights. So thats out for a couple more weeks still.

I looked at a WRB BRZ limited with the PP before I went to Toyota. It was very nice and will be my back up if I can't get the Hakone. My only issue with the WRB is how common it is around here. Probably 8 out of 10 that I have seen are the WRB. I like to be a bit different.
I also am a huge fan of green cars. Always have been.

Good luck, I hope they do find you your transmission type.. BTW, does the Lava get its new coat of paint before it leaves you?

I do like the forest green color I forget what it's called though. That is acceptable in manual. (In my best Ron voice)

I will try to sell privately and will offer the new buyer the free paint job. The only problem is that it will be done when the shop has time not when I request it so it will be up to the buyer to arrange when. The biggest issue is that I don't have any clue when or even if they will get the Hakone. This makes it hard to try to sell. I would rather sell for a good deal to somebody that will appreciate it than trade in and just say goodbye.

If I end up taking the pittance they will offer for trade in (it will get sent straight to auction they will not resell it) then they will get it as is. At 270,000km painting it will not bring the trade in value up enough to make it worth the hassle.

All in all it was a hard decision to change at all.
Since when I bought it I knew I would rack up the miles my original plan was to trade it in after 3 years. With changes in our work divisional structure I didn't end up putting the miles on I had to in the past so I decided to hang onto it for 4 years.

Then since it was so trouble free I figured I would keep it for 6 years (now) and pass it onto my grandson for whatever trade in value was and pick up the Hakone. Well insurance rates for him and the fact that when the Hakone came here all they could (or would?) get me was an AT ruled that plan out.

So, I then planned to hold onto it until next year and see what the next gen Twin or STi would be like and decide from there. Both ichi's news (which I believe because it supports my theories as to what was going to happen and my confirmation bias is strong) and the history of the early adaption issues of the FRS and the Supra (god I would be pissed at that one) meant I would want to hold out until the second or third production year of either. This is now pushing things well into 2023.

Although my traveling is greatly reduced I still drive more than the average so by 2023 I would have a 9 year old car with well over 350,000kms on it. In that time I would need to spend at least $3,000 on major maintenance items such as brakes, plugs, more new tires, etc. Once that money is spent I will still have a high mileage car and the risk of a major failure that comes with it. I can not afford to have nay downtime on a car since it is a tool not a toy for me.

So, I had to remove the emotional attachment from the equation and make a rational choice. All realistic considerations pointed to getting a new one now while they are still available and see what is out there in 5 more years.

I WILL shed a tear when the Lava pulls out of my driveway for the last time but is just simply the right thing to do at this point.

I can't say that you're making a rash decision. It's a shame that you're unable to pass the car over to your grandson. I have a feeling that you'll get a BRZ, it's got a nicer nose.. You're a very good ambassador for the Twin, having clocked the big mileage and now jumping into another one.. Well done!

I'm seriously thinking through the business case for a GR4 but I have some major work changes underway which may involve acquiring a company car..

As for loud colours, I can take on the mantle through my recent purchase...

Well the Hakone is already ordered. The BRZ is the back up if they can not come through for me. There are only 50 allotted to Canada and from what the dealer could tell about 70% of those are MTs. They checked and it looks like 20 have already been delivered with only a handful of ATs remaining unsold. A quick search shows there are a couple advertised as in stock out west but most of the dealer sites just show them as "available". Could not find any at all actually in stock anywhere near me.
