What kind of SMD? Leds PLCC2 3528 Led smds ROT red EVERLIGHT

I might as well jump in here.... @nzer. The LED's I had ex-stock are too big. The ones on your PCB are known as a 0603 SMD package and I have ordered some and will probably be here tomorrow, if not Thursday. Come in strips of 50, but only cost $7 in total including GST. My gift to you mate.

Be carefull in desoldering the green led. As the pads on the PCB are very small if the temperature with the iron is to long you unstick the pads and broke the wire .As we have the 2 sides to be heated together it is not so easy and the use of a tweezers is delicate. The best is to use a hot air station .For the soldering of the new one, high temperature and more solder are not necessary.The remaining solder is sufficient. The side of the LED is printed on the silkscreen so no problem. I Have changed mine with red and in total 17 leds are necessary.

Any specs on the LEDs you replaced them with - and does the colour/brightness match?

I'm trying to figure out whether to go for red or orange, and once I figure that out, how many mcd will be required to make it not stand out wrt the rest of the dash.

Of course, also keen to hear about the results from @nzer,@Tech once they're done.

Fear not @Pacific. I am an electronics technician involved with servicing and manufacture. I do this kind of stuff every day. Having said that, I will be posting pictures and instructions now that the LED's have arrived, but this is not a DIY for anyone who does not have the right equipment, soldering skills and at least a basic understanding of electronics!

Finished the LED change. Looks bloody good if I do say so myself. Colour and brightness just right IMO. I have started writing it up with pictures included and I will post this soon. I might do it under a new thread since this one is some 44 pages long already! If you have any questions which you want me to answer in the forthcoming doc, then ask now before I finish writing it.
