Quoting myself from a different thread:

I have a good friend in a different dealership's parts dept that is going to verify the existence of 01C for me.

I brought a copy of the SA "TSB" with me so they were able to read about the problem. The "high rpm detonation" is the service dept's words not mine.

Maybe you live in a flat straight road terrain where you can somehow drive in the power band without lifting on/off the throttle ?

Shall we conclude that you are now asserting that any operation above 5200 rpm will produce damaging, uncontrolled detonation?

Is there another rational interpretation, an alternative conclusion to be drawn from your statement?

If not, then please account for EXACTLY why this is so. I do not accept this at face value, this 5200 rpm limitation to avoid catastrophe. I respect your experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. I respect your intellect, Regal, but I cannot accept the above assertion at face value; it seems somewhat preposterous.

I require supporting, DETAILED EXPLANATIONS, and a compelling argument if I am to be convinced.

I am not saying you are wrong. I am saying that your so-called "arguments" have failed to convince. You are capable of much better … assuming that you have indeed thought this out carefully and are standing on solid ground.

Convince me, please.

I'm hoping to redirect your persistent complaints to an equally insistent determination to find SOLUTIONS.

I know you are dissatisfied. You are not alone.

Rather than continue to curse the darkness, let us light a candle, shall we?

I just got back from the dealer. I live in Dubai and have 35000 km on my car. It runs extremely bad after the engine is driven on for about 40 miles or so. They won't cover the warranty because I had the oil changed some where other than the dealer. What a crock of SH*T!!!! I will never buy another Subaru or Toyota again!!!!!! They want to charge me $3000.00 for 4 injectors and a fuel pump.!!!!

Call Subaru corporate. I'm not sure how it works in Dubai, but here as long as you can prove the oil was changed and replaced with OEM spec'd parts (oil/filter), they shouldn't be able to deny your claim.

Stock are the main ones I've seen. It has to do with the factory tune. Lots to read, but most of this is covered in the thread. :happy0180:

this thread is confusing to follow...

maybe they should make an anonymous poll? doesnt seem like people are being too honest with what they did to the car before things like this happened... has anyone with a fully stock car, not tuned, non tracked, not "abused" having DI failure?

lol. Agreed! Fully stock, yes. The conditions that tend to lend to the issue seem to be quick on and off throttle up high (5200 rpm is the magic number) where the transient tables are non existent in the stock tune. Obviously more common condition in open track cars. Oddly enough, a tune looks to be the fix to the failure and also the end of your drivetrain warranty. So, for now, a lot of us are just waiting for toyota to step up and fix the tune. There is already a "fix" out, but as far as I'm aware, unless you have a newer car or are within a certain vin range, they aren't doing the calibration (there is no TSB). I tried to get it last week and they told me my vin was out of range of the cars they would re-flash.

We know that not all cars are affected, so telling everyone to shift under 5200rpm is just bad advice.

Drive the car like you would normally drive it. If you track the car a lot and have not had the latest calibration file installed, work with your dealer or Toyota or Subaru corporate and express your concerns.
There are many more silent members who have had denied warranty claims that I am aware of.

Probably, and they are probably silent for legal reasons, but without hard evidence and facts, it is not very helpful.
