Eww rear differential goo
Did this about three weeks ago, just didnt have time to post it up.
Miles was 4800 when I did the Rear Differential fluid change. There was definitely small metal shavings that was on the magnetic drain plug when I cleaned it out. After I changed to Motul gear 300 the shifting after releasing clutch feels a bit smoother now, not perfect, but better than what it came from the factory that even my wife notice it.

I had the same to say about my fluid switch. I'm thinking about trying Pentosin next, since that's garnered a lot of praise. Did you also have bushings and inserts installed?

No bushings or inserts, everything is still stock minus the fluids.

Curious as to why you did the fluid swap. You about to start open tracking?

That, and to get rid of the factory oil ASAP. My concept is to change any break-in oil asap. But thats just me you know what i mean..

Anything the magnet picks up, it's not going to let go of. Therefore, changing the diff oil early may not have any benefit.

i disagree, ur diff gears are going to make a lot of turbulence inside the case, and i can see it breaking loose all the fine metal bits, only to have them stick back to the magnet once the car is parked and everything settles back down to the bottom.

Wow, I'm not used to seeing shavings like that in under 5K miles...it seems that better fluid may be in order...
