FactionFab Twin Muffler Titanium Catback, any experiences or reviews m

http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/fact...l#.XQujc2QpCh-

Saw it on their YouTube video, and the fact that it's 17lbs has me sold!

Of course, not even close to owning a BRZ yet, so more studying, asking and observing at this point.

Thanks in advance,

Rogue

Just looking at that price i can tell you its not worth it. Sure its titanium and thats probably why the price is high, but catbacks hardly gain you much power on this platform. Its better to spend that money on a quality header and tune and go from there...

Oh, I know from experience that Catback's are more aesthetics and weight savings, but I'd get it for the latter, as well as a CF drive shaft (hear there's less issues with it than Aluminum)

It'd be one of the last mods I'd do, but again, solely for the light weight

What most catbacks are for - for specific sound/aural pleasure. Slight performance increase/slight weight savings/a bit better looks .. that all is secondary (unless purpose built racecar). After all, for most, if result will sound s**t, if it will drone bad, if unbearably loud or much too quiet, if unpleasant note, one will much more probably think of switching it out to something else imho. Even if one to switch to will weight extra 10lbs, even if tips will be of less good looking finish, even if one that was not to liking provided extra 2-3whp.
And i have doubts if many very light titanium catbacks are also very good at that primary function and are not droning queens.

if you care that much about weight just get a tomei t60s... its a single exit full titanium and it weighs 14lbs. The t60r (with less muffler) is only 10 lbs. they're bothe $500 less than this

Oh God... Didn't think about the drone, my Audi is terrible at cruising speeds (75-80)

10.85lbs and sounds nice without drone:

mav1178: from setup description: "Factory header/overpipe, factory front pipe..". Will it sound same with no drone if paired with eg. catless header and aftermarket frontpipe? Given titanium exhaust premium price i guess their market niche is way smaller then that of "normal" SS aftermarket exhaust bits, thus harder to find recordings with combinations with different other exhaust parts like header for performance, to ensure good sound and no drone, to tell for sure if more expensive purchase won't result in lemon. Recordings aside .. even at eg. meets or trackdays .. probably there also will be harder to find ones that paid that premium for titanium due high cost/little return, so to listen in person how they sound, hopefully in other then paired with stock combinations.

What Churchx said

If it's still drone free after everything, then I'm sold

This is the open-ended question...

The short answer is, who knows?

The long answer is, it really depends on what you want to get performance-wise out of the car, and to what extent you want to sacrifice sound for performance.

Not everyone is the same, just because it is "best bang for the buck" doesn't mean it works for everyone...

Here's the same exhaust with a Berk front pipe with HFC:

[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ4biMTDZL4[/ame]

Here's the same exhaust with an Apex'i header/OP/FP setup (with HFC + large resonator):

[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcofHkS-qp0[/ame]

Here's the same setup with just a Fujitsubo front pipe (dual resonated no cat), stock header/OP:

[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7BECUlOtxE[/ame]

I keep going back to the same talking points: namely, catalytic converters (by themselves) are not an indication of whether an exhaust system is quiet or loud. Rather, it's a combination of 1) the size of the resonators (a large enough catalytic converter acts as a resonator), and 2) the overall effectiveness of the exhaust system to mitigate excessive/annoying sounds via the catback portion of the exhaust.

If you just buy one piece of the exhaust at a time, then you will get the "one piece at a time" end result: a setup that may or may not give you the tone you are looking for.

If you, say, get a header system that has a large resonator built in (Apex'i for example), you are paying a lot of money for essentially an improvement over factory that will be close to stock sound-wise. This gives you infinite options for catback exhausts, because whatever catback you get (by itself) will just sound like you did a catback exhaust mod, nothing else.

I'm interested to hear this catback with an UEL header (preferably stock FP). Is there anyone that have this combination? 10x

Just leave your laptop at home. Dont carry coins. Keep your gas and washer fluid levels low. Its 100% NOT worth it to save weight with an exhaust. Its also so low to the ground, its not the 'bad' kind of weight.

They uploaded sound clips for it already:

Can't justify $1,500 for something that's just makes the car sound better. For that money, you could buy decent headers, a tune, and a drop in filter. If you care THAT much about saving weight, just get a single exit for a fraction of the cost.
