FRS trunk not opening

I have another post floating around here somewhere. I was away for awhile and now back dealing with the same issue. My trunk won’t open. I pulled the back seat down. The valet mode button is off. You can hear the trunk pop when you push the trunk button on the key fob but nothing happens. The emergency pull doesn’t work. It won’t open with the key. Any suggestions before I go back to the dealer. It’s a 2013. Thanks.

I think if the key and the emergency pull won't open it you need to go to the dealer.

Yeah - the emergency pull not working is weird. That's a direct, mechanical connection to the release mechanism. It's odd that you can hear it unlatch but it still doesn't.

Stupid questions. Once you hear it unlock, have you tried pulling/pushing the lid open? Have you tried lubing the latch? It may not be opening enough to release.

OK.

Are you sure the latching mechanism is being released?

Insure that opener lever inside the car has returned to its down position?

Are you pushing the valet switch the "open" way?

Insure that you are pulling the emergency rip cord the proper way?

OK, now that you are sure the latch is releasing, I suggest the following:

* have someone push and hold the trunk button the FOB, while you are aggressively pushing down and pulling up on the trunk lid.

* if that don't work have someone hold the button down, while you crawl into the trunk space and pound "up" in the trunk lid from the inside.

Iffen none of that works, either break out a crowbar or take it into a shop.

Let us know when you get it open -

i would suggest putting some pressure on the trunk lid while hitting the trunk button on the remote. sometimes it can be latched too tightly.

I’m not even sure how to do that. I don’t see anything to lube instead the trunk.
Just a black box covering where the latch might be.

Are you able to get into the trunk from the cabin and using a screwdriver to move the lock over to one side to release the mechanism?
