Damn, 1/3 of 86s are manual! That's incredible! Maybe there is yet hope!

That's incredible if it's true, something like <3% of cars sold in the US are MT and I would have guessed closer to 25% or less for this car.

Well I do chirp the tires on occasion but the rest is true. I bought it as a nice inexpensive commuter coupe with no delusions of it being a race car wanttabe.


People here seem to think this place represents the majority of owners of these cars. We do not. We are the minority. The more people are into modding, tracking, or actual racing they get the further they spiral down into the sub niche abyss.

Sigh. I like driving manuals. Long past the age of caring about compensating for anything, over- or under-wise. There's no use for well-equipped kitchens with all the great restaurants out there, but some folks like to cook. Why learn to play a useless instrument when you can listen to whatever you want to hear on YouNoob?



"Automatics are better"...in your opinion, for you and the way you enjoy driving. They are not "better" for me. Why would you think that the only possible reason someone may not think exactly like you would indicate some kind of defect in that person?

Only if they release the Distracted Driving (aka "Safety") package that the rest of the line up can get.

But I suppose if people went to a dealership to buy a car...they want a car that day and don't want to wait several months potentially to get their stick shift configured car.

^ I just bought a second car and I wanted it in a manual transmission. I had to request it, then put money down as a refundable deposit. Then wait a few months before it even arrived. '19 Corolla HB.


They did have one stick for me to test drive, and I was sold. If given the option I always gravitate to manual transmission. I really don't think it is as much work as people seem to think it is. + its fun and cheaper to buy.
