Acetone absolutely will eat the plastic, use nail polish remover, conservatively.

Anyone have more pics of success(perfect or close to perfect, no haze) and failures (haze, eaten plastic, etc.)?

It's not that easy, it's a locked firmware. You have to tap into the software by cracking whatever code it's in then locating the image and reflashing it to the image you want. Making it simple enough for a DIY would take more time then it's worth. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Can't you somehow login using bluetooth to change the image. Like adding images to a camera via usb?

Acetone seem to be the fix from previous posts but use it carefully.

Goo gone is so weak as a solvent compares to acetone I doubt it will work.

Has anyone used a non-acetone nail polish remover? This may take longer but seems it will be less harsh, and hopefully won't damage the trim.

I just removed the scion from the head unit. Nail polish remover with acetone and a cotton ball did the trick. I had to do a little light rubbing but it all came off eventually. As soon as it was off I got a cotton ball with watered down dish soap and a damp cloth. Light coat of soapy water then rinsed with cloth. Then I hit it with maguires natural shine. Looks ok so far.
It did fade a bit with the nail polish remover so that's why I rinsed. After that it looked normal even after drying. I did the maguires to give it the bit of protection the plastic needs from the sun.

Took this pic this morning of my results from last night. Forgive the dirty screen and song choice. In the light I see very very fine scratches from the rubbing but honestly its very hard to see and only up close.
