Dealer Chipped Paint Durring Service

SO I brought my FR-S in for its first service. I didn't notice till I got home but there is a paint chip on the driver's side front body panel right where it meets the hood. They must have just dropped a tool or something. They want me to bring it in and then after they look at it they said they'd have their body shop fix it. It's small, and its the first chip on the car but of course its all that I notice now.

Any advise on dealing with these guys? Is it worth the trouble of having it fixed? Can it even be done without making it look worse?

That is an easy fix. Especially with your color not being a tri stage.

Let them know and give them a chance to fix it. Attitude matters (on all sides...).

That was my first thought but I don't want it to grow over time, although I'm not sure how likely that is.

Thats a good point. He seemed cool about it on the phone and I always start out trying to be nice.

Ahhhh.......just rub it with a little rubbing alcohol to take off any wax, paint it with a sharpie then wax over it.

See how it looks.

I don't reckon it will "grow".

Wouldnt bother me so much if I didnt naturally read the damned signature every time in my head "hum -furs". You seem like a nice guy and pretty active so I tend to read that a lot.

The edge of my door was covered with chips like this from my watch at one point. 10 minutes with a paint pen and some scratch remover, looks good as new.

Get youself a set of Dr. Colorchip. Fix it, and save the rest for when you get more.

Good point there, Pickleahoy......

I reckon that habit is a holdover from another forum I was active on.

Thanks for the heads up!

Well, yes, I realize they make touch up paint......

However, when I went to get some for my white FR-S, the dealership had to order it ..... then it took 2 weeks to arrive.

Therefore, since this was the OP's first chip, I was just offering a red neck approach ..... so as to minimize his first chip trama time .....
