See reading all of this makes me angry. I have such a clean record, Rating 1 for life, late 20's and female and my quotes are ridiculous. I am less of an insurance risk than most people.

maybe insurance companies are waking up to the fact that women are indeed worse drivers than men

well im about to take delivery of a gts so starting to get quotes

SGIC - about $700 a year
shannons - $1800 a year

I questioned shannons about it and they claimed it was a high performance high risk car and they couldn't move on price. Its a shame as i've been with them with my evo, two daily's and they have always been cheap and good.

but they will be loosing my business because of this because its an absolute joke!!

have any of you guys considered toyota insurance? i got a quote for 850 with 450 excess, free winscreen / glass , and 3 year new car replacement
im 25 with no accidents living northern suburbs of perth

also look closely at sgio policies, as they will only cover $1000 for lost keys, even tho it can be upwards of 2-3k for new keys as the ECU has to be replace when replacing stolen keys....
also toyota insurance you get a hire car at no cost, and choice or repairer (important to me) with use of ONLY GENUINE parts when repaired, not aftermarket shitty panels

Agreed mate, I've decided to go with Toyota for Financing and Insurance, I got pretty awesome rates on both, I'm 21 and got a similar price to yourself, which I did not expect at all, given all other companies wanted 1.2k + and I managed to get an agreed value of 42100 from toyota as well, versus 37-38 from the others. Plus the 3 year replacement as you said.

Now we're getting somewhere. RACV and GIO come in at around the $800 mark for me. Finally I'm getting sensible prices.

I'm picking my 86 up tomorrow!

NRMA just gave me $720 a year for comprehensive, 40K agreed value and $800 excess. That includes multi-policy discount and no claims etc, plus I'm 35.

Most of my quotes were ridiculous and I'm a long-term-driver no-claimer. Shannons was OK, and I'm happy to go with them because they're happy to pay my preferred panelbeater to keep doing the work until he gets it right.

Also; I want your cube but really need something to tow with, sadly. doesn't stop me wanting it, though, so I may do something dumb anyway.

Hehe, you're most welcome to come and look. Price is negotiable. Unfortunately I only have have a one car garage, a mortgage and a single income so I can't keep it. I would love to though. It's the most practical car in human history. I moved house and the front end of a car in it, it seats 7 people and it fits in the tiniest of parking space! It also gets more attention than anything else on the road.

Back on insurance - I'll be going with RACV. Same level of cover but $600 per year cheaper. As much as I like Shannons I can't justify spending that much extra to stay with them. I'll also be moving my contents insurance over to RACV from Shannons.

Just got my renewal for Comprehensive Insurance... Car is almost 12 months old.
I went with Toyota Insurance, over 30 driver, excellent driving record, Basic excess $600.00 Agreed value of vehicle is $30,000.00 (GTS Man). Premium is $843.02.

I am staying with Toyota Finance simply because of the new-for-old replacement if the car is written off in the first 3 years. Maybe after that I will do a lot more shopping around.

That's pretty much standard for all insurance companies.
