Doesn't need an account based in Japan. They and other car journalist site have taken countless BS posts from our forum before.

The one that made me laugh so hard was when we were waiting for BRZ concept to come out, one of the member made a thread about "What would you wish for Subaru ver?" (or something like that title) and he wished to be turbo AWD. From there members posting and discussing how to make it possible for several pages. Next couple days, Jalop and other car journalist making an article about "Subaru ver 86 will be Turbo AWD" and all their source came back to this forum. Oh~ so much click bait and trolls.

Back on topic, they just started on this project, so anything is possible. It could be 1.6L or 2.2L... or it could be even hybrid. Literally anything is possible. This year or next year, I wanna interview/talk with Tada-san to see what's his idea/plan for it.

NA bigger displacement would open the door to more powerful results with bolt ons. I believe if they do a Mk2 it will generate decent interest with a bigger engine. Kinda like WRX STI for North America.
Also keeps the segway to turbo powered Subarus as the next vehicle.

Big problem I see w bigger displacement is lower redline. Stock form, never seen bigger displacement w high redline. I was surprised to see 7,400rpm from NA 2 liter from our car. iirc FA24DIT redline at 6k... so from that speculation you'll loose at least 1k rpm.

But I could be wrong

Still an 86mm stroke and not turbo. Should be able to rev decently. Different valves for NA too.

Perfect marketing strategy. Halo car Supra at $80K (in Canada) will sell more twins at $35K in same showroom. Id bet on 2.4 na if it happens. I want a Supra bad but some major things coming up in next few years plus selling heavily modded F-RS is a lesson in bad economics.

Like an S2000, I think ANY model year twin will be decent depending on setup.

Supra is a car that has me considering how I can get one yet the venerable Corvette never has. Price points will probably be similar at entry level though a stripper club racer based supra would really excite me. It's a trust thing regards to Supra, Toyota almost never steers you wrong.

Maybe a pre-owned in a few years.

Hm... highly doubt on 86mm stroke. I feel like that's worse in 2.4L.

Like you said, Halo car Supra will be lil too high for a lot of ppl, but if Toyota/Subaru play 86/BRZ game right, they'll sell both Supra and twin fairly well.

Pretty much the movie that made ones like Police Squad possible though.

next gen 86 reportedly coming

The S2000 went from 84mm to 90.7mm and went from 9000RPM to 8200RPM. B18C5 was 87.2mm and ran 8500. So who knows. There is more to high revs than stroke though. Rod length, valves, springs, balancing, etc etc.

I was skeptical that a 2nd generation would even be made, but it sounds like it's a pretty sure thing now?

Hm... it’s up in the air. The Japanese sauce they got is a decently legit place... but even they do start the 2gen project, while they’re on it, they can cancel it due to some kind of reason.
