You missed it... JKJK It took me (I was a noob at installing an SC kit) about a day and a half. I started Saturday morning (8AM)... stopped around 7PM... finished up Sunday starting around 7AM... and I turned the key to start the engine around 10AM. Keep in mind, I also did an oil change, added the JR Oil Cooler Kit, and installed DSS aluminum driveshaft... And a Raceseng pulley kit... If it was just the SC kit... Shouldn't take longer than a day...

Another silly question... JKJK 😁 Absolutely positively THE BEST thing I've done to my FRS. Worth every penny. No issues in over 6500 miles. I got the CARB kit (live in CA) and it's enough power. Do I want more power? OF COURSE! But you get to the point where too much power is useless on the 405 freeway and stop/go traffic... Some may argue that point, but I like to stay safe (as much as possible 😜. And...more power pushes the reliability of the boxer...

Thanks again. Do you feel any noticeable reduction in power down low (say <3k RPM), or is it not really detectable?
And yes, I'm the king of silly questions! ;-) DJ Quote:

While it has not happened to many seems with any SC even if an aftermarket header does not provide much for gains with SC, seems wise to get "something" diff to avoid cooking up or cracking OEM header. Agree or disagree JR owners?

It's noticeable power all around. Our cars stock don't have much power to begin with... so a little goes a long way...

Remember, a lot of tuners will richen the AFR to cool the intake charge, but when you run overly rich, that extra fuel is now being combusted by your catalytic converter, which makes the cat overheat and eventually fail. The JR CARB tune is designed with this in mind; I don't believe *ANY* tuner on this board has ever mentioned something like this before. We've melted the OEM cats with a 100% stock engine due to the very early OEM tunes being.... less than steller. Our demo BRZ has had plenty of WOT/track/spirited driving time, and the CAT is still solid. The Jackson Racing test mules also still have their cats intact. In the harshest conditions, we see a max cat temp of about 1415F (track, 115+ ambient). Under normal conditions, it's usually fluctuating between 1100-1200, and occasionally will get up to about 1300 if you're doing a long uphill drive. For reference, the 2015 WRX sees a cat temp of about 1400 when driven on track in stock form. |

Ok good points, just clarifying for all up costs thoughts purpose. Being my car has aftermarket exhaust etc already and would not be carb tune was concerned with the question "buy (x) brand aftermarket header now when getting kit or don't bother...

Mike, can you guys sell the kit with a special tune from a tuner like Delicious tuning or something if we want to buy the kit but need a tune for a full exhaust?
I would like to buy a package so that there is almost no final adjustment to make. |
