Brings to mind back in HS, when I used to prep new cars at my Uncle's Chevrolet dealership.

Oh, I was very careful about "unwrapping" them ...... just like it was going to be MY new car. One spring day, my Uncle noticed me prepping a car just like this ....... and asked me if I would like to drive it to the prom........

Oh, yes, I was hot shit ....... however, that night, I found out it took more than a fancy car to get into a girl's panties ......

The dealer is saying they need to remove the plastic to inspect (understandable) and their detailing team needs to detail the car to further look for imperfections. This part seems crazy. How should I go about handling this?
I bought my BRZ from Heuberger in October of 2015.
Requested the same thing as you, that they touch nothing coming off the truck.
I got the same line about the plastics needing to be removed to inspect for damage - which if there is any damage, you could see on the plastic too, if not better than the paint - but I went along with it.
But I made absolutely sure they did not send the car through the wash station.
Car was dirty AF when I picked it up, but detailer mentioned it was easy to work on.
Not sure why some dealers don't want to do less work for the same price...

it's all about performing a well executed handbrake turn to turn the ladies on especially 17 year old girls

My first truck had a foot parking brake, a clutch, and a floor-mounted headlight dimmer switch. It was very crowded and I learned to make damn sure of my footwork.
