The transmission.

The car is actually named after it. And it's a damn expensive transmission with an frs wrapped around it.
Named after the tranny? I have missed reading something someplace! Can you elaborate or point me to some reading? (NOT sarcasm truly curious)

You say that, but it's on record that the FA20 is an engine built to be modified. You can get up to 50 more HP with just aftermarket components alone.

Maybe I'm just annoyed but there have been soo many Turbo posts on this forum that if I had a dollar for every one I could buy at least two FR-S's (or one TRD86 14R60).

I'm guessing it's American thing, but power isn't everything. I like the idea of improving the chassis, weight, and handling while still carrying an intact interior. Then you have a car that's quick but still comfortable enough to live with on a day to day basis.

I have a feeling the Griffion "street edition" is going to become the RS 2.0 FR-S

just remove the rear wing, canards, add a unique color, and there you go...or don't add a new color and make this the Monogram 2.0

Nope, enjoy YOUR car. Don't worry about what the person next to you gets. honestly that time and energy is better spent elsewhere.

it's ok, you're no less of a person just because that person got a similar car with a power increase.

Am I the only one tiring off all these "special edition" versions of the 86? Of which 100 percent of them are strictly cosmetic upgrades. Just straight up milking the platform for all its worth.

Functional aero and a string of performance parts longer than most peoples arms is hardly 100% cosmetic. Jaded much?

So it seems the people who often like to bash TRD for selling expensive ricey products rather than functional products are the same ones who now call the functional parts that TRD released ricey. I think that tells us something about how knowledgeable and valuable their opinions are.

There's people on this forum who put BOLT IN (problem 1) roll cages with shady s-bends (one of the most popular models that will remain nameless) and aftermarket steering wheels (no airbag) in their car with stock seatbelts and street drive them because their dream is to convert their heads into liquid in the slightest accident.

It's an internet forum, what do you expect.

To sum it up.
It has some go fast bits added without a go fast engine , which equals go slower than a stock car.
So , to buy it and engineer a more power full engine would cost more than a nismo 370Z.

To sum it all up, you're wrong.

So I guess I'll post it again since no one can read.

Most of the cost of this car is the transmission. It's what the car is named after. The 14 R 60 Transmission is a BIG boys racing transmission.

That and I think it's got about 6-7000$ worth of brakes on it.

This car I ment to be bought and had a TRD sc slapped on it and then raced. I'm almost willing to bet they needed to sell 100 of these to be eligible for something. A race class or something. Though usually it's 3,000 not 100. Just like the trd sc. They couldn't use it until it was made "available" to the public. Yes that's right anyone can buy the TRD sc. It just costs 20k $ see? But now they can race it in alot more classes.

I think it looks fucking awesome and the Griffon is fast as fuck around Tsukuba for only being at 230hp.

However, you could produce something similar for much less money while still using top tier, high-end parts. OS Giken diff, Voltex aero and wing, AP Racing brakes, etc.... The "transmission" is just a new gear set, right? Companies like OS Giken have produced similar products in the past and usually run around $3000-$4000, but they almost always still have issues holding power without breaking. Usually people skip over these options to go with things like a Getrag V160 for street cars or drift/drag or custom sequential transmissions made by Hewland, Hollinger, etc. for real racecars (ex: time attack). If you were going to spend $4000-$8000 on a transmission, you'd probably want to go for one of these.

The carbon roof is probably one of the only items included here that wouldn't be very easy to do on your own. I wonder how much weight it drops. For that matter, I wonder what the curb weight is of this car. The Griffon was down to like 2300 pounds, wasn't it?
