Won't happen. Cafe standards. Mpg matters. Some tests are done at half of the max rpm, which is exactly in the middle of the torque dip.

I do appreciate it would matter for the US market, but the twins are sold all over the world. Its not like the engine is being replaced with another and I have seen manufacturers tweak outputs / do small drivetrain upgrades here and there come facelift time.

Lighter wheels and diff ratio would have no impact on those tests for instance, but would improve the platform in a meaningful and inexpensive manor. I say inexpensive as the cost would be amortised across total twin production.

We can certainly dream. Majority of the twins are sold in North America(me thinks). But shorter diff ratio does have an impact, although small(1-2-3mpg). Cafe standards matter, it is more than just a number they are chasing. It is actually very complicated. Mpg is one of the things people(non-forum people) look at when buying this car. It's an economical sports coupe.

The Sachs suspension does not change the wheel gap. It is already provided by Toyota Japan as an accessory.

I think its a Scion/Toyota due to the grill pattern, grill shape, and red seat patches. BRZ's never came with those type of seats or that grill pattern.

So the big question is: why would they need a test car, driving around in Germany, just to test a new bumper and a wing?

Maybe there is more to come than just minor exterior changes.
