Hyper.Blue Tinted Windows

Hey All,

Finally got around to uploading this. Just got the windows tinted which I think really makes the blue stick out. Got it early October and it's pretty much a daily driver. Still planning on upgrading the exhaust.

I'm becoming more jealous of everyone's black fender strips. I'm totally calling SoA and causing hell tomorrow.

Just did a little shopping, Tein and Cusco goodies on the way.

@Solsykness - You may want to wait on headers if you're going turbo since you can't reuse them. Just a thought since you're in Alaska and the used parts market is probably not amazing. If you're going super it doesn't matter though.

What percentage grade is your tint?

Well it's full in the back 3 windows (which I think is 5%). Did 20% in the side driver and passenger. I thought it would be a bit lighter in the front but o well. It's all 3M tint.

I'm sure the cops will eventually stop me, although I heard it depends on the area. I believe the chances of being pulled over drops significantly when using 35% to 50%.

Haven't posted here but I had mine since October, haven't broken in 1k miles yet .. sometimes I just don't want to stop driving it lol. I had full Xpel paint protection installed on the front end so far; tint and exhaust to follow.

I'm actually not a fan of hyper blue or WR blue. The only blue I've seen on this car that I liked was the FR-S's ultramarine. I wish they made one like that but even darker.

That being said, I do like this because it's different. There aren't enough "different" cars on the roads these days.

Little Changes, Pro's/Con's

Just wanted to add some more information and not so noticeable changes (differences I've notice from my Black 2014 BRZ) for the 2016 Hyper Blue BRZ models.

-Pros
Shark Fin antenna
In dash touch screen head unit sits so much more flush on the center console/dash
Transmission woes I experienced on my 2013 didn't seen to follow over into the 2016's
I think the leather wrapped steering wheel has a smoother more expensive touch to it
Starlink is kinda awesome, the head unit seems much more responsive then the older one
The stereo system seems to be much better on the 2016's

-Cons....This is kinda weird I feel like Subaru decided to move stuff around rather then add to the package of the previous Limited models
No more GPS/Navi...period...for any models.
The hyper blue package adds the frame less mirror which I like, however, Homelink is gone along with the auto-dimming mirror.
The auto-dimming rear view mirror feature is gone, and I haven't test the heated/defrost mirror feature yet, but my guess is that's gone too.

-Weird thing I noticed.
Not that this is a big deal or anything, but have any of you guys looked under the hood? They left the underside of the hood unpainted along with the chassis....I pointed this out to the salesmen and he said,
"Must be expensive paint"..

Well that's it for now...I just hit 100 miles the other day. I seriously just want to keep driving this thing I love it. It was either this or a Mustang GT and I still went with this.

My next car will certainly be the Mustang Shelby GT350 as soon as the hype dies down...but for now, this will do just fine.

Admittedly I think hyperblue doesn't photograph well without some tweaking. It's just difficult to get a camera to capture the correct color. Anyway, it's definitely different. I was standing on the 6th floor where I work, looking down at the parking lot (probably around 1000 cars) and instantly could pick mine out of the sea without remembering where I had parked.

Welcome!

I beg to differ on Starlink. It's super responsive but the actual app portion is about as useful as tits on a bull. I have yet to get iHeartRadio to actually play music. Pandora works fine though.

The auto-dimming homelink mirror is an option, not part of any trim level. You can order the parts online and install it yourself cheaper!

Also, I've looked under the hood probably more than any other hyperblue owner (I have quite a few mods already), and it actually didn't dawn on me until my buddy said something. Battleship fucking gray. Kind of neat actually... until you notice the hyperblue overspray.

Funny thing about that comment though, the paint shouldn't be expensive at all. It's not metallic or pearl.
