First Detail for my BRZ

I am getting my windows tinted tomorrow and I want to give it a good detail but its been raining so have to schedule it next week.

Anyways I am a noob when it comes to car detailing. I don't have a garage so I don't have any place to store cleaning material, so I going to hire a detailer.

He got good ratings in my area but the services I have no idea what a clay detail is. Can someone explain what would be a good first time detail job and how often I would need to do it?

Here is a link to the company, and the services.

If you could give me some insight that be great.

If you want to know about and be able to "speak" detailing...go to the Detailed Image website and find their detailing how-to...it is a great read and will make you a smarter consumer and who knows?...maybe just talk you into doing it yourself!

How many miles are on the car? If you hand wash it with a non-abrasive wash mitt and some decent automotive soap, you can dry it off with a chamois and a microfiber cloth. After that, just wipe it down with spraywax + microfiber. Good as new. Don't forget to do your windows with non-streak glass cleaner.

If you're attentive and somewhat meticulous, your car shouldn't need a detail already..

Invisible Glass = Best glass cleaner ever

Clay is used to remove stuck on crap, wax, pretty much everything down to the clear coat. First you wash the car good. Then using a spray detailer as lubricant a clay bar is used all over the car to remove everything.

Wax should be applied immediately after claying as your paint is unprotected.

Cars come 'naked' from the factory, everything from the paint, to the rubber/plastics, and the leather. It is all untreated and 'dry' so to speak, so a conditioner or protectant is needed. We used to detail professionally for Concours collector car & exotics, and to this day still use the ideology of wash, clean, feed of Zymol. Check out more about their philosophy and products here: http://www.zymol.com/ You don't have to use Zymol products, heck we primarily use the HD cleanse & Zymol Titanium wax. For leather get Leatherique, and for plastics/rubber seals use 303 Protectant.

Think of it this way, it's like hair conditioner and spf for your car.

Happy Motoring!

I just finished detailing my BRZ and frankly I really enjoy doing this myself rather than paying someone else to do it. For me it adds to the "pride of ownership". I am a huge Zaino fan, but there are a lot of good products out there. Save yourself some money, learn how do this properly, and who knows you may actually enjoy it.
