That seems to be the case here. The collector on the Tomei/Gruppes/OFT's latest design(?) UEL's is art.

If there was a way for me to get the same performance without my car sounding like a Subaru, I'd do it. Unfortunately I haven't seen anything that does for a similar price.

Seems the EL vs UEL debate is heated.

Is there a consensus that the Tomei/Gruppe-s/OFH3 style header is better than the non- long tube design like Tomei EL, HKS, OEM style headers?

Im thinking about the gruppe s myself. I know that a long tube el even with an ots tune transforms the car but I'll probably go with a more affordable uel. At least it'll make up what I lose on a hot Florida day.

Dont see where the 'debate' is. There are numerous dyno plots available for many of the headers. It's basically pick your price range and pick which shape torque curve your prefer.

I am trying to decide which is best in the 5-700 range...

The Tomei UEL shows results with similar peak HP to at least the HKS one I was considering... I think... Mabe..

and its hard to find both Tomei headers compared on the same dyno besides from Tomei themselves..

and alot of people seem to disagree as to which is better...

I dont want sound to be the deciding factor..

The headers in that range all produce similar peak numbers coupled with a good tune. The main difference is the torque around 3000~4500rpm. If you still cant decide, I'd suggest finding people with the setups you're considering and test or ride along to get a feel for it. A car meet or something. Good luck.

just stick to the basics, EL give more high end power and uel give low end power/rumble sound. if you race randomly on the street when a car pulls up to you, you want EL to get more power in the high end. a tune can mostly fix the torque dip on the EL.

If anyone has done dyno's with the Tomei EL that would be helpful. Even better if its on OFT stage 2.
