Right? You're just working the pedal however depending on the circumstances. What's wrong is discouraging experimentation by saying some technique is wrong.

If you are not sure what you do while shifting then you have beat the hardest part. Anybody that know exactly what the y are doing is still concentrating on it and have not mastered it.

Your shifts and feet are fine or I would have yelled at you when we were headed into town.
