SCCA Solo Spec Coupe

Hey all, with the announcement of the SSC class for 2018 SCCA Solo I'm looking at changing my current aftermarket wheels/suspension to the spec requirements.

My primary question currently is this... what is the lightest weight/best performance wheel I can get in 17x8 with a minimum of 40mm offset? It has to be a minimum of 17 pounds but I'm not certain where to start my research for the best options.
Thanks!

This question would better be posted in either the Wheel and Tire sub-forum or the Spec Twin thread in the Track sub-forum

Tirerack would be a good place to start since they list wheels by weight.

You aren't going to run into minimum weight issues if it's a 17 lb minimum. Tires alone are heavier than that.

You should consider the tire you are going to run first. Tires often vary in weight by upwards of 5-6lbs depending on the manufacturer in the same size.

They are going to specify the tire at some point and add (presumably an example that's worn/shaved down where It's no longer drivable) the tire's weight to the 17lb minimum to come up with a weight than can be checked with the tire still mounted on the wheel.

Konig Ultraforms are listed just a hair under the 17lb minimum and "make weight" once the centr cap and a TPMS valvestem are installed. (Balancing weights will add to that too)

That being said, the TR FF10's are 17.1lbs and have the weight of the wheel distributed better. (Closer to the center) they need a 5mm spacer if you want to get to the 40mm offset though.

Both of these examples are relatively cheap.

I would not get too hung up on wheel weight though. If you find a 18 or 19lb wheel and you really like the look/price, go for it.

Minimum Weight, without spacer if used (lbs.): 17, including:
• Wheel weights
• TPMS sensor if installed
• Tire valve stem (type unrestricted)

Enkei TS-10's are $195 each and 17.75lbs according to Tirerack.

I'm considering getting an 86 to run SSC.

Sad that my fav wheel of all time (RPF1) aren't heavy enough.
