I just avoid any threads about the twins on the cars reddit. Its cringy and quite annoying. Then I fall into the hole of taking it too personal

TBH @weederr33 I tell myself I won't get 'offended' about it, but it happens anyway.

No matter what reasonable argument you give, they have some other negative reason to hate on our car and ignore any rational response you give.

Paraphrasing, but someone said something along the lines of "I've test driven the car and revving it out sounds bad and does not feel good at all" when I said that's how this engine and car are meant to be driven to have fun and stay out of the stupid torque dip.

I guess they're too busy being obsessed over BMW M2 or similar (nice cars in their own right) that have way more luxury feel, less road noise, and softer suspension but more obvious power and earlier consistent torque.

They aren't wrong. I had the same observation when I first drove mine. The difference is that I understand why and appreciate the choices made. Any flat engine with long intake runners is going to behave the same way.

Also, I DGAF. Most of the local gang here modded the piss out of their cars and eventually sold them. I'm still putting along enjoying every minute, both in the car and under the hood. Good times!

I got my car this far, and then sold the turbo setup. I really like the whole “slow car fast” experience. Plus it’s funny watching the guys at the track with high dollar cars looking over my shitbox all confused

One thing thing that kinda gets to me is related to when I did my HPDE/trackday through Hooked on Driving two years ago, and my coach who happened to be an old retired race driver also owned a 2017 BRZ with the performance package, but otherwise stock. Usually the coaches drive your car for a lap to show you tips and stuff, but since he had virtually the same car as me he took me in his own BRZ.

The three or so times we went onto the track, he went into group D or whatever the upper class group for HOD is with the next to fastest cars and qualified solo drivers. So GT4's and whatnot.

Dude tore around the track and was easily beating these more powerful cars. And this was Thunderhill East which is known as the less technical of the two tracks at that raceway and meant more for higher power cars.

I don't think he even got on the brakes for most of the corners on the track and he knew exactly when to apex and everything.

I don't care if you can afford M2's, GTS', GT350 mustangs, etc. (or even just have cheaper tuner cars that happen to have more power stock) and like our car's design but hate how it drives. At least don't do the bullshit thing and call out our cars as being "slow" just because you'd never even want to learn to properly drive the thing.

It's okay to have an opinion but I just really hate when people go "well I drove it once and I know it sucks no matter how you drive it" or "well all the 86 owners I talk to say you have to fix the car by doing headers and a tune at least and even then it doesn't have enough power for what it is."

U guys think 215/55 winters will fit on 17x7's. I have the option to buy some used blizzard, but not sure if that much sidewall is cool. I think oem tire is 215/45? I'm lowered an inch or so

i don't get involved in those conversations anymore. i tried telling one of them once that i outpaced a bmw m4 on tail of the dragon a while back-- visibly frustrating the owner. he pulled over and let me pass when his back end started stepping out and i was still gaining on him. they claimed there was no possible way that could have happened...

Got two inches last night. 16° tonight. Should be nice and icy.

Very true. I remember when I was a kid, back on the farm, in the old house, we had a hand pump beside the sink. The pipe went out into a cistern by the back door. Of course, one had to "prime" the pump with a cup of water to get it going.

AND …. if you didn't leave a full cup of water at the sink for the next priming, you had to go outside and pump a cup full of water from the main cistern pump. AND …. it was cold out there, and snowing, and the cast iron pump handle was cold, and it was uphill to and from the cistern -
